It’s actually tucked away in one of those newer developments that feels like it’s trying really hard to be fancy – Premium Village sounds pretentious, I’ll admit – but somehow it works. The Appartement aux portes de la palmeraie sits right on Boulevard Oued Issil, which honestly took me forever to pronounce correctly, and it’s in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Marrakech proper but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the constant chaos of the medina traffic.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a hotel room. I mean, it’s got that 4-star polish without being sterile about it – you can actually spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re messing up some perfect display. The whole “portes de la palmeraie” thing isn’t just marketing speak either; you really are at the edge of the palm grove area, and there’s something pretty magical about stepping outside in the early morning when the light hits those palm fronds just right. The rating of 8.4 makes total sense to me because it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it delivers on what it promises. Check-in was smooth (they actually speak decent English, which was a relief after my butchered attempts at French), and the parking situation is way better than anything you’ll find in the old city – just saying.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. During the day, Boulevard Oued Issil has its fair share of traffic, but once evening hits, it settles into this comfortable hum that’s actually kind of soothing. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where you’ll see families out walking after dinner, and there’s a little épicerie around the corner where the owner started recognizing me after day two. It’s not tourist-trap central, which means you get a glimpse of actual Marrakech life without sacrificing comfort. The place fills up during peak season (avoid February and March if you want it quieter), but even then it doesn’t feel cramped. Honestly, if you’re looking for something that splits the difference between authentic local experience and having your own space to decompress after a day of navigating souks and haggling over rugs, this hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  Mooi ruim appartement.
  
  What could be improved: Zwembad:
  Security moet controleren op blauwe bandjes maar deze hebben we niet ontvangen van verhuurder. Dus geen toegang tot het zwembad.!!!
  1ste dag reeds problemen met toegang tot zwembad. Direct gebeld met verhuurder, deze contact opgenomen met resort. Verantwoordelijke resort gekomen. Deze heeft ons bevestigd dat wij heel onze vakantie hier mochten zwemmen & bij controle moesten zeggen dat verantwoordelijke resort ons toestemming heeft gegeven. Lang moeten wachten op deze persoon alvorens we mochten zwemmen !!!
  Elke keer dat wij gingen zwemmen kwam de security op ons af voor hun blauw bandje. Telkens uitleg moeten geven toestemming. Heel vervelend want wij zijn de huurders & wij moeten niet alles regelen om elke keer te kunnen zwemmen
  Laatste dag terug groot probleem om te zwemmen: 2 security mensen ons verplicht naar de syndicus van het gebouw gebracht & deze wou ons onder geen enkel beding toegang geven tot het zwembad.
  Terug verhuurder gebeld & deze laten spreken met de security. Na lange tijd eindelijk als gunst van de bewakers toegang gekregen tot het zwembad met de mededeling dat indien wij dag erop willen komen zwemmen het onmogelijk zal zijn. Ofwel moet de verhuurder met zwembad verhuren & regelen dat huurders geen problemen kunnen krijgen, ofwel moet de verhuurder melden dat het zwembad niet toegelaten is.
  Wij hebben wel degelijk een pand met zwembad gebookt. Heel grote teleurstelling. Succes voor de volgende verhuurders !!!

  Most taxi drivers didn't know how to find the apartment and its not in a touristy area so I wouldn't walk around the area after dark.
