The Route d’Ourika itself is this lovely tree-lined stretch that feels more residential than touristy – you know what I mean? Real Marrakchi families walking their kids to school, local cafés where the mint tea actually costs what it should.

The apartment itself sits in this private residence complex that feels like someone’s well-to-do uncle’s place rather than a sterile hotel. There’s something refreshing about having your own space with a proper kitchen (the tiny fridge actually works, unlike some places I could mention) and a living area where you can spread out your maps and guidebooks without feeling like you’re in someone’s way. But here’s the thing – that pool is absolutely worth it. I was there in September when Marrakech was still hitting 35°C in the afternoon, and honestly, having that private pool access saved my sanity. It’s not huge, but it’s clean and surrounded by these terracotta tiles that don’t burn your feet, which is more thoughtful than you’d expect. The water stays cool even in the heat, probably because there’s decent shade from the surrounding building.

What really sold me on this place was the little details that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The check-in was smooth – no standing around in a lobby with your luggage melting in the heat. The apartment stays surprisingly quiet even though you’re not in the middle of nowhere; I could actually sleep past 6 AM without the call to prayer echoing off cramped medina walls (though you’ll still hear it faintly, which I actually missed). The 9.3 rating makes total sense when you factor in the value – you’re getting space, privacy, and that pool for what you’d pay for a cramped riad room in the old city. Plus, if you’re planning day trips to the Ourika Valley or Atlas Mountains, you’re literally on the right road already. I kept seeing other tourists fighting traffic to get out of central Marrakech while I was already halfway to the mountains. It’s one of those places where you feel like you discovered something the guidebooks haven’t caught onto yet, even though the quality is definitely there.
