Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of riads and hotels around Marrakech, but this place on Rue Ibn Atya actually surprised me. The name’s a bit fancy – Appartement carré d’or – but honestly, it delivers on that “golden square” promise. You’re right in the heart of the medina, which sounds chaotic (and yeah, it can be), but this particular street is tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant motorbike honking that drives you crazy elsewhere.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep the authentic Moroccan feel without making you suffer for it. The apartment setup means you get proper space to spread out – none of that cramped hotel room nonsense where you’re living out of a suitcase on the floor. The traditional tilework is gorgeous, but they’ve actually invested in decent plumbing and reliable wifi, which, let’s be real, matters when you’re trying to stay connected or just want a proper shower after walking around the dusty medina all day. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably spend your evenings – you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and the sunset views over the old city are honestly spectacular. Plus, it’s quiet up there, which is such a relief after the sensory overload of the souks.

The location thing is tricky to explain unless you know Marrakech. You’re close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can walk there in maybe ten minutes, but you’re not so close that you hear the drummers and snake charmers until 2 AM. The little streets around here have some of my favorite local spots – there’s this tiny café about three doors down where the mint tea is perfect and costs basically nothing. Getting taxis to find you can be a bit of an adventure (it’s Morocco, after all), but the staff will actually come meet you at the main road if you’re struggling, which is more helpful than you’d expect. I mean, the 8.4 rating makes sense when you factor in that they clearly care about the details. The whole experience feels more like staying in someone’s well-designed home than a typical tourist accommodation – which in this part of the world, where you can easily end up in places that look nothing like their photos, is actually pretty refreshing.

  What could be improved: l'absence de réponses aux questions que j'ai posé à pierre par mail et l'attente à l'arrivée car il n'avait pas prévenu latifa de l'heure de notre arrivée alors que cela avait mentionné par mail avant notre départ mais ce n'est pas si grave en soi

  Marrakech est magnifique les gens sont très gentils c'était une super expérience et notre hôte était adorable elle était toujours a notre écoute l appartement est très agréable par contre les taxis ne connaissent pas l adresse il faut mettre l adresse de l hôtel stars et tout va bien il est juste à côté on a des restaurants tout autour très bien
  
  What could be improved: Les taxis certains ne sont pas aimables et ils essayent de nous arnaquer sur les prix où ils ne viennent pas.
  Heureusement ce n' est pas la généralité la prochaine fois on prendra plutôt un hôtel car là l accueil s occupe de tout pour les taxis

  L’appartement est bien placé et confortable. Pierre est disponible et très accommodant. Latifa est très disponible et agréable. Elle a satisfait chacune de mes demandes . On peut compter sur elle. Merci

  L emplacement , les équipements dans l appartement , la gentillesse de Pierre le propriétaire , de Latifa qui s occupe des entrées /sorties.
  Petit problème de bouteille de gaz à 21h30 résolu dans le 1/4 d heure qui suis..le soir même .
  la cuisine est très fonctionnelle avec ses équipements .
  La climatisation est appréciée avec les fortes chaleur .
  Un gardien disponible serviable et gentil .
  Wi fi correct dans l ensemble pour travailler

  Perfect location it was a 5min walk from high-street with restaurants, fast food and popular clothing stores. It is a 25min walk to the market. Latifa was easy to get a hold of at all times and if we needed any help there is a gentlemen that lives within the building who was there to help.
  
  What could be improved: Locating the building was a little difficult. Street outside is a little bit noisy at night.
