The building itself is pretty typical for the area, nothing fancy from the outside, but once you’re up in apartment 14, it’s honestly a different story.

The pool is what really sets this apart from your average Marrakech stay. It’s not huge – we’re talking apartment complex pool, not resort-style – but after walking around the souks all day or dealing with that relentless afternoon heat, you’ll appreciate having somewhere to cool off that doesn’t involve negotiating with hotel staff or sharing space with fifty other guests. The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile, which I actually prefer. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to grab ingredients from the markets (and honestly, the produce in Gueliz is incredible), though you’re also a five-minute walk from some solid restaurants. The couple who manages the place – they’re really responsive, which matters when you’re trying to figure out things like where to park or how the building’s main door works.

Here’s the thing about staying in Gueliz that guidebooks don’t always mention: it’s where actual Moroccans live and work, so you get a completely different rhythm than the tourist zones. Mornings are quiet, afternoons get busy with locals running errands, and evenings have this nice neighborhood energy. From this particular street, you can walk to Avenue Mohammed V in about eight minutes (I timed it), which puts you right in the center of modern Marrakech’s café and shopping scene. The medina is maybe a twenty-minute walk if you’re feeling ambitious, or a quick taxi ride when your feet are done for the day. What I really appreciated was having a proper base to return to – somewhere you can spread out, do laundry, maybe have a quiet morning coffee before diving into the city’s beautiful chaos. The 9-star rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting apartment-style space and amenities at a fraction of what similar comfort would cost in a traditional hotel, plus that pool situation is genuinely clutch during Marrakech’s warmer months.
