First Impressions

You know what struck me first about Atlas Golf resort? It’s not trying to be something it isn’t. This place sits about 20 minutes outside Marrakech‘s medina, and honestly, that distance works in its favor — you get the peaceful side of Morocco without completely disconnecting from the city’s energy. The resort spreads across these rolling grounds with the Atlas Mountains creating this incredible backdrop that changes color throughout the day. I mean, the photos don’t really capture how dramatic it looks in person, especially during sunset when everything turns golden.

The Golf Experience

The golf course here is actually what puts this place on the map for many visitors. It’s an 18-hole course that winds through some seriously beautiful terrain, and even if you’re not much of a golfer (like I wasn’t when I first visited), you’ll appreciate the design. The fairways are well-maintained, and there’s something almost meditative about playing with those mountain views stretching out in front of you. What I really liked was how they’ve integrated the natural landscape — you’re not playing on some artificial green carpet but working with the actual contours of the land.

Accommodations and Comfort

The rooms are comfortable without being flashy, which honestly feels right for this setting. Most have terraces or balconies that look out over either the course or the mountains, and the traditional Moroccan touches — like the tiled bathrooms and carved wood details — feel authentic rather than touristy. The air conditioning works well (crucial during Marrakech summers), and I appreciated having that free private parking right on site. It’s one of those details that makes a real difference when you’re exploring the area by car.

Location and Getting Around

Here’s the thing about the location — it’s perfect for couples who want to experience both sides of Morocco. You’re close enough to drive into Marrakech for dinner in the medina or to explore the souks, but far enough out to actually relax and hear yourself think. The resort runs a shuttle service to the city center, though I’d recommend renting a car if you really want to explore. The road to the resort is good, and you’ll pass through some interesting smaller towns that give you a different perspective on Moroccan life outside the tourist centers.

Why Guests Love It

What really makes Atlas Golf resort work is how it balances activity with relaxation. Couples especially seem to love this place — and I can see why. You can spend the morning on the golf course, afternoon by the pool, and evening watching the sunset over the mountains, all without feeling rushed or crowded. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward some hidden gems in the surrounding region. It’s not the most luxurious place you’ll find in Morocco, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a peaceful base for exploring this incredible part of the country, with golf as a bonus if that’s your thing.

  Man muss sich bewusst sein das es ein abgeschlossenes Resort ist und der Weg bis Marrakesch ca. 30min dauert.

  Ontbijt was goed en op verzoek kan een lunch worden geregeld. Het resort is zeer mooi, met veel groen en allerlei paden. Appartement heeft een grote TV in de woonkamer en een TV in een slaapkamer, met zeer goede WiFi. De host is heel aardig.
  
  What could be improved: Er waren wat kleine technische issues (lekkende douchekop en kapotte buitenlamp), maar ik had dit pas achteraf gemeld. Host gaf aan dat dit snel zal worden opgelost.
