You know what caught me off guard about the Barceló Palmeraie Oasis Resort? The moment you turn off the busy Route de Fès – and trust me, that road can get absolutely chaotic with all the tourist buses heading to the Palmeraie – everything just goes quiet. I mean, you’re still only about 15 minutes from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but it honestly feels like you’ve escaped to a different world entirely. The place sits in this sprawling palm grove area that most tourists never really explore beyond the standard camel rides, and there’s something genuinely peaceful about waking up to nothing but rustling palm fronds instead of the usual medina madness.

The resort itself is… well, it’s big. Really big. Sometimes I felt like I needed a GPS just to find my way back to my room after dinner, but that’s actually part of what makes it work. The pools (there are several) never feel crowded, even during peak season in March when half of Europe seems to descend on Marrakech. The main pool area has this lazy river thing that sounds touristy but honestly? It’s perfect when you just want to float around with a drink and not think about anything. The rooms are solid – nothing groundbreaking, but the AC works like a dream (crucial in summer), and the beds are comfortable enough that you’ll actually want to take those afternoon naps. I will say the WiFi can be spotty in some of the outer buildings, so if you’re planning to work remotely, maybe mention that when you book.

What really won me over though was how they handle the whole “authentic Morocco” thing without going overboard. The evening entertainment isn’t just the same tired belly dancing show you get everywhere – they actually bring in local musicians from the city, and the food… look, resort food is usually resort food, but their tagine is legitimately good. Not quite what you’d get at a tiny place in the medina, but way better than I expected. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there too, which makes a huge difference when you’re dealing with the inevitable little issues that come up. Check-in was smooth, housekeeping was consistent, and the concierge actually gave me directions to a local argan oil cooperative that wasn’t just a tourist trap. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does what it promises really well. Perfect if you want to explore Marrakech during the day but come home to something reliable and relaxing, with enough space that you’re not constantly bumping into other guests.

  It's a nice hotel in the Palmeraie away from the hustle of the site. Set in gorgeous grounds with nice facilities. For breakfast, there was a nice array of items, and the reception staff was so helpful. In particular, Mouna, Mustafa and Hayat. Youssef, the porter, is also very friendly and kind.
  
  What could be improved: There was a bit of a mix-up with lunch, and the restaurant manager wasn't the easiest to deal with – but other than her, the trip was very smooth, and the other staff members

  Amazing for kids and family-oriented with many activities.
  Food is good with different options and staff is very nice.

  What could be improved: Some items in the room might need an update (bathroom know kept falling off). Also, the lady in charge of pouring tea during breakfast was never smiling and had a grumpy face at all times unlike the rest of the staff.

  The hotel was clean and comfortable and had all the facilities that would be expected.
  The free shuttle bus into the centre was a bonus, but not running from 12.30 until 3pm was restricted.
  
  What could be improved: An issue with billing was not handled well. To get an explanation took 7 visits to reception, keeping having to repeat the issue and then ‘go back later’.

  Great selection and quality for all meals. Meat and veggie, tagines, salads, fresh stir fry, 3 different types of pancake, international, French, Moroccan.
  
  3 pools to choose from, all great, never crowded. One quieter, one big for all activities with music, one smaller for young kids. Plenty of loungers and great little booths (like huge sofas) to sunbathe on with mobile umbrellas.
  
  Football, volleyball, aqua aerobics, yoga, tennis, mini golf, pool, all on site.
  
  Room always clean, great shower/bathroom. All facilities brilliant. Water delivered to room daily.
  
  Helpful staff. Hotel looks beautiful. Free shuttles into city centre hourly. Kids club.
  
  What could be improved: Dinner started a little later than we are used to- 19:30 but it was fine if you have a big lunch:

  The all inclusive is a con .. only allowed limited local drinks … check before you buy ! We have traveled all over world and this is the worst .
  The bed was very comfortable, limited coffee and milk in room , but there was a conference centre , which hosted parties until 1.15am on two occasions in our 6 days . The hotel never explained at booking .
  The base from the speakers just was un acceptable.. I complained at the time by phone , and next day , it fell on deaf ears .obviously the hotel was making a lot of money from it.
  The meat /fish /barbecue, pizza was outside , there was flies all over the food and meat , I did end up with dodgy stomach on last day ..
