It’s tucked away on Rue Yougoslavie in Gueliz, which is perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the tourist chaos of the medina. I mean, you’re literally walking distance from all the good cafés and restaurants that locals actually go to, plus you can grab a taxi to Jemaa el-Fnaa in about ten minutes when you’re ready for the full Marrakech experience.

The apartment itself is genuinely bright – they weren’t kidding about that part. Big windows that let in all that gorgeous Moroccan light, and honestly, waking up there feels pretty great. The 4-star rating seems about right; it’s not luxury but it’s comfortable and clean, with decent Wi-Fi (which, let’s be real, can be hit or miss in Marrakech). The kitchen actually works if you want to grab stuff from the markets, though you’ll probably end up eating out most of the time because the food scene in Gueliz is just too good. There’s this little pastry shop around the corner that does incredible chebakia, and the guy who runs it started recognizing me after day two. The building itself is pretty typical for the area – modern-ish, nothing fancy, but you’re not here for architecture anyway.

What I really liked was how it felt like staying in an actual neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. You’ll hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques (bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper), smell tagines cooking from neighboring apartments, and generally get a sense of what daily life is like here. The 7-rating seems fair – it’s solid, does what it promises, but don’t expect anyone to blow you away with service or amenities. Check-in was straightforward, though the person who met me spoke more French than English, which is pretty standard for this part of town. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re renting a car, but honestly, you don’t need one in Gueliz anyway. The neighborhood has that perfect balance where you feel like you’re experiencing real Marrakech without being completely overwhelmed by it – especially if it’s your first time in Morocco and you want to ease into the intensity gradually.
