You know what really surprised me about Calista Appart hotel? It’s tucked away on the Route de Safi in this residential area called Burj Malak, which honestly sounds way more intimidating than it actually is. I mean, when you first pull up, you’re thinking “okay, this is definitely not the touristy Medina chaos” – and that’s exactly the point. The whole Résidence Piscine complex has this almost secretive feel to it, like you’ve stumbled onto something the guidebooks haven’t quite caught up with yet.

The apartment-style setup is brilliant if you’re tired of cramped hotel rooms. I’m talking actual kitchenettes where you can make coffee without calling room service, and living spaces where you can spread out your stuff without everything ending up on the bathroom floor. The pool area – which is basically why this place exists – becomes this little oasis where you can actually hear yourself think. No kids screaming at 7 AM (well, mostly), and the water’s properly maintained, not that weird cloudy situation you sometimes get at other places. The 4-star rating feels right; it’s not trying to be some fancy palace, but everything works like it should. Air conditioning that actually cools the room, hot water that comes out hot, WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes – you know, the basics that somehow aren’t always basic in Morocco.

Here’s the thing about the location though – you’re about a 15-minute taxi ride from Jemaa el-Fnaa, which sounds inconvenient until you realize how nice it is to escape back to actual quiet at the end of the day. The Route de Safi has decent restaurants within walking distance (there’s this little place that does amazing tagines, though I can’t remember the name), and you’re not dealing with the constant hassle of people trying to guide you somewhere for a tip. Parking’s not an issue if you’re brave enough to rent a car, and the taxi drivers actually know where Burj Malak is, which is more than I can say for some of the riads I’ve stayed at. The staff speaks enough English to handle check-in smoothly, though having a few French phrases doesn’t hurt. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no mysterious fees or surprise room switches.

What really sold me was coming back after a long day of wandering through souks and climbing up to Saadian Tombs, and just being able to slip into that pool as the sun’s setting. The whole complex gets this golden light in the evening, and you can hear the call to prayer echoing from different mosques across the city, but it’s peaceful rather than overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to hang around the hotel for a bit, maybe grab a drink and plan tomorrow’s adventure, instead of just using it as a place to crash.

  El apartamento es precioso con dos baños completos q lo hace muy útil para grandes familias el recibimiento por parte de la anfitriona espectacular me llevo a comprar tarjeta para el teléfono y me ayudo con todo lo posible limpio y ubicación buena pero taxi para la medina si o si aun así perfecto alejado del.mogollon y por destacar cruzando la carretera hay un bar q para los desayunos tanto típico como buena bollería baratillo y la cocinera y el.personal estupendo

  Beaucoup des choses à dire, mais on pourrait le résumer en un mot : Exceptionnel !
  Déjà bien avant le départ, Khadija nous a contactés pour nous rassurer concernant notre arrivée très tôt le matin, on a pu faire le check in avant l'heure, c'était très gentil de sa part. Elle s'est occupé aussi d'organiser notre transfer depuis l'aéroport, on ne pouvait pas commencer mieux nos vacances !
  A l'arrivée Fatima nous a accueilli avec un délicieux thé à la menthe et des pâtisseries marrocaines. Adorable !
  On s'est installé dans un appartement impeccable, on s'est senti de suite au Maroc avec toutes ces jolies décorations. Appartement propre, les lits sont très, très confortables, cuisine complètement équipée, deux salles de bain … Bref, mieux on ne peut pas demander. Les photos correspondent tout à fait à la réalité.
  La piscine est ouverte tout le temps, c'était très agréable pour les enfants de pouvoir se baigner un peu après une journée de visites et aventures à Marrakech.
  La cerise sur le gâteau c'était notre rencontre avec Hicham. Khadija, la propriétaire nous a donné son numéro car nous lui avons demandé de renseignements pour visiter Marrakech et toutes les activités que nous voulions faire. Alors, je n'ai pas de mots! Il nous a préparé tout notre itinéraire, nous a amené partout, nous déposait à la maison, nous a trouvé les meilleurs prix avec des plans concoctés especialmente pour nous, avec les horaires et préférences qui nous convenait le mieux. Franchement, si vous réservez ce logement, n'hésitez pas une minute à demander à avoir le numéro de cette personne incroyable !
  Merci à à Khadija, Fatima, Hicham et même à son adorable famille que nous avons eu la chance de rencontrer.
  C'est décidé, on reviendra une prochaine fois car il nous a manqué du temps pour visiter et faire tout ce qui a faire à Marrakech et aux alentours. Sans aucun doute on réservera à nouveau ce logement !
  
  What could be improved: Il y a deux choses qu'il faut mentionner mais que ne changent en rien la note que j'ai donné :
  – La vue à l'extérieur ce n'est pas la plus belle. Mais ça n'avait pas d'importance car nous partions tôt le matin et rentrons tard le soir, donc regarder par la fenêtre c'est n'était pas notre activité principale. Je le dis juste parce qu'on ne s'attend pas à ça en rentrant dans le logement. J'aurais mis un 10 sur la note, j'ai mis 9 à cause de ça 😉
  – L'appartement est loin de la Médina. N'essayez pas de bouger en taxi, à moins que vous voyagez seul. À 4 c'est impossible de prendre un taxi pour aller vers la Médina et les Souks. Pour rentrer il n'y a pas de souci, mais pour y aller c'est juste impossible. Nous avons essayé et échec. Ne perdez pas de temps, contactez Hicham avant d'arriver, il s'en occupera de tout 😉

  Fabulous apartment, comfortable, large, safe parking, shops nearby, easy to get to centre, airport and out of town. Ideal if driving but good for taxi access too. Self catering if you need it, I only really used the coffee machine, ample ground coffee was provided. 2 bathrooms.
  Good communication from owner despite him being away, Fatima met us and showed us around.

  La décoration soignée, le logement est propre et bien équipé. Le tout dans une résidence sécurisée et calme.
  Le ton est donné quand on rentre ! Une odeur de fleur d'oranger embaume les lieux. L'accueil est chaleureux et disponible.

  Établissement très propre très bonne accueil sa correspond tout à fait à mes attentes propriétaire très l’écoute donc je recommande fortement Pour les transports il suffit de descendre en bas de l’immeuble y’a toujours des taxi l’équivalent 2€ en journée et 5€ le soir
