Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places around Marrakech, but Casa Taos hits different – and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s about 8 kilometers out on the Route de Souihla, which honestly might sound like you’re heading to the middle of nowhere if you’re not familiar with the area, but trust me on this one. The location is actually genius because you get this incredible sense of space and quiet that’s impossible to find in the medina, but you’re still close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you into all the chaos when you want it.

The first thing that struck me when I pulled up was how the place feels more like a private estate than a hotel – there’s this gorgeous traditional architecture that doesn’t feel fake or touristy, you know? The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dealing with travel fatigue. And the grounds… well, they’re the kind of place where you find yourself wandering around with your morning coffee just because it feels good. The pool area is particularly nice in the late afternoon when the light hits just right, and honestly, I spent way more time there than I planned to.

What really sets Casa Taos apart though is the attention to detail – not in a fussy, over-the-top way, but in how everything just works smoothly. The rooms are spacious with this perfect balance of traditional Moroccan style and actual comfort (I mean, some riads can be beautiful but feel like you’re sleeping in a museum). The beds are legitimately comfortable, the air conditioning works properly, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase, which is rarer than you’d think. The bathroom situation is solid too – good water pressure, which anyone who’s traveled around Morocco will appreciate.

The restaurant serves some of the best tagines I had during my entire trip, and I tried a lot of them. There’s something about eating outside under the stars when it’s perfectly quiet except for the occasional call to prayer drifting over from Azli – it’s one of those moments that makes you remember why you travel in the first place. The breakfast spread is generous without being overwhelming, and they do this amazing fresh bread that’s still warm when they bring it out.

I’ll be honest, you’ll want to rent a car or be comfortable with taxis if you stay here, because while the location is perfect for relaxation, you’re not walking to dinner in Gueliz or the medina. But that’s sort of the point – this is where you come to decompress and actually experience Morocco at a slower pace. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s the kind of place that exceeds expectations without trying too hard. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between authentic Moroccan hospitality and genuine comfort, Casa Taos delivers in a way that feels effortless.

  We came here for the second time. Welcome us with a drink and a piece of homemade cake. Love everything, beautiful tropical garden, organic ingredients, all Hicham, his wife and their well-behaved, friendly, sweet pet dog are so lovely.

  Everything…
  The staff were super helpful, the food was really nice…we stayed 10 days (5 more than originally planned) and enjoyed every meal. Home cooking and fresh and healthy food. WiFi was good. Rooms were spacious and are better than the photos portray. We had a room with a log fire which was great in the cooler evenings. Location is not central but still just a short taxi to Marrakech…which was perfect for us. Grounds and pool all very well kept….overall extremely peaceful and relaxing which was exactly what we wanted. Would highly recommend!!

  Hindi and Ismael were incredibly friendly and helpful. The owner, Hicham, was very warm. The setting is beautiful, the built design and grounds were beautiful. Food was delicious and sooo plentiful. Huge homemade spread for breakfast, wonderful fresh produce.
  
  What could be improved: Bear in mind that you will be a 30 minute taxi ride from the Medina.
