Charmant duplex au cœur de gueliz, quartier haut de gamme de Marrakech Overview
You know what caught me off guard about this duplex? The moment I stepped inside, I completely forgot I was in the middle of Gueliz – and honestly, that’s saying something because this neighborhood doesn’t exactly whisper “quiet retreat.” But somehow, this place manages to create this perfect little bubble of calm right on Rue du Capitaine Arrigui.
The thing about staying in Gueliz is that you’re basically in Marrakech’s modern heart – I mean, you’ve got the twin towers looming nearby, cafes that actually serve decent coffee (rare in Morocco, trust me), and you can walk to Carré Eden shopping center in about ten minutes if you need familiar brands or just want AC for a while. But this duplex feels like someone took the best parts of traditional Moroccan design and gave them a contemporary twist without going overboard. The layout actually makes sense, which – let’s be real – isn’t always the case with riads and traditional places where you sometimes feel like you’re living in a beautiful maze.
What I really appreciated was the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for more than a night. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just decorative), there’s solid wifi throughout both floors, and the upstairs bedroom gets this amazing light in the morning without the street noise that usually comes with Gueliz locations. Speaking of noise – yeah, you’ll hear some traffic during the day because it’s a real neighborhood where people actually live and work, but it dies down significantly at night. The building itself feels secure, and parking isn’t the nightmare you’d expect in this area, though I’d still recommend asking about it when you book. The host clearly knows what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, and they gave me actual useful recommendations, not just the tourist traps everyone suggests. You’re a fifteen-minute walk from the medina when you want that authentic chaos, but you can also grab a taxi to Majorelle Gardens in about five minutes, or walk to some genuinely good restaurants along Mohamed V Boulevard. It’s that sweet spot where you feel connected to the real Marrakech – both the traditional and modern sides – without being overwhelmed by either one.

Reviews of Charmant duplex au cœur de gueliz, quartier haut de gamme de Marrakech
Exceptional – Raya from Iraq – 24 June 2025 (10/10)
Everything exceeded expectations! The owner, Ibrahim, was exceptionally kind and helpful, and Zahra was equally friendly and did a fantastic job. I’ve already recommended this apartment to all my friends, and I’ll definitely be coming back soon
What could be improved: There’s nothing I can point out, everything was simply wonderfulGreat value if you want to stay away from touristy crowds – Emanuel from United Kingdom – 7 May 2025 (9/10)
Apartment looks exacly like the pictures. Good location in the modern part of the city, ideal if you don't want to be within the medina but still have great restaurants and feel the busy life of the city. Also old town still within walking distance (if you're willing to walk around 45min). Felt safe at all times and very well taken care of.
Host communication was very friendly, quick and clear. We were informed about the type of breakfast and being able to request it at different times (within a reasonable timeframe) that suited our plans was a great plus. The lady who came to cook and clean was very welcoming.
Overall the apartment is great value for money and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
What could be improved: Nothing major, only a missing bathing towel for one of us (so one person had to use a hand towel for the body), which had to be requested a couple of times before being resolved, and you can tell that the apartment needs some upkeep but nothing that would be a detriment to your stay.
Only thing I can say I didn't like is that you can hear the noise from the halls and also the neighbour upstairs had a habit of walking around with heels past midnight so that sometimes woke us up, but of course this is outside of the host's control.Excellent stay! – Keith from United Kingdom – 3 May 2025 (9/10)
The apartment was very large and airy, with every conceivable appliance and utensils. It was also very peaceful and away from the hectic main roads. The locals around the apartment were very friendly, and an abundance of restaurants nearby.Quite a walk into the centre of Marrakech, however taxis readily available.Big shout out to Brahim, our host, for his communication and advice, and the wonderful lady that comes in every morning to make a Moroccan breakfast and clean.Highly recommend!
What could be improved: Very minor points- little or no sun on the courtyard, and the corkscrew is broken.Comfortable stay in Marrakesh from a residential area – Filipe from Portugal – 24 April 2025 (9/10)
The apartment is about 40 minutes walk to the Medina and 10 minutes walk to the train station, which was perfect for us, since we went to Casablanca one of the days. It's a quiet residential area, with many restaurants nearby. There is also a small supermarket on the street and a bigger one not too far. It is very comfortable and clean. We loved the breakfast and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal. Brahim was very helpful and available when we asked for some tips. The WiFi was perfect.
What could be improved: Nothing relevant. Perhaps I would add some towel racks on both bathrooms.Definately recommended. In the city center, 30min walk to old city. – K from United Kingdom – 29 March 2025 (10/10)
In the city center, everything around: ATMs, restaurants, shops, there is Carrefour like 15 min from the apartment, but you have 2 local shops end of your street. You have half an hour walk straight down the street to the old part of the city. I walked in Marrakesh all day long, I went out in the night all by myself and I felt safe.
Owner very helpful, unfortunately I had to ask for his help when I could not understand staff, rang the owner, got thing translated. Done. Staff speaks French and Arabic, me English and Polish.
What could be improved: I like to eat a lot in the morning. Breakfast for me was not enough. You have option to get this apartment with or without breakfast, there are plenty restaurants next main street, there is Mcdonald in like 10 min walk, KFC, kebabs, you can dine out. I like to eat a lot in the morning and then again in the evening, hence for me the breakfast was simply not enough. Nothing against the owner and lady who came in the morning to cook the breakfast, it is probably normal size Marrocan breakfast, I just eat a lot.Superb – Andrej from Slovakia – 11 March 2025 (9/10)
host was really friendly and even left our breakfast in the fridge. Good communication with host.

What could be improved: All goodVery clean and comfortable – Anoeska from Netherlands – 30 October 2024 (9/10)
Super spacious and quit
Deceptive Appearances: A Cautionary Tale of a Disappointing Stay – Jean from Netherlands – 11 September 2024 (1/10)
The location is in a nice part of the city. Easy to get around.
What could be improved: It all looked good until you paid attention. The bathroom toilet was quite dirty, dirt that had become part of the motif. The outside area was not really of much use, the floor was quite dirty and privacy was hard to come by.
The kitchen is fine but don't expect too much. The pods for the coffee machine cannot be found, but if you take the free breakfast you can get coffee at an additional cost. Breakfast is nothing special, with some honey oil and bread. The lady is very nice, but it is also a lack of privacy.
So to be clear, for business travelers. The owner will devise the most ridiculous excuses as to why he cannot provide an invoice. I applied for an invoice during the booking. If the owner. who claims to be a French businessman, would have acted accordingly, he should have sent a message after receiving the booking, that he could not provide an invoice. That is what most properties run by business-minded people do.
When I read a response like "I cannot issue an invoice to a person who has not paid directly to me and especially an amount greater than what I received from booking.com" my neck hair goes up.
And remarks like, "do not think about accounting if booking.com does not do this for you my accountant will make an invoice not recorded in our accounting for you😁" Who the hell does he think he is?
Besides multiple stupid remarks, nobody threatens in a WhatsApp message and thinks I will let this slide.
I filed an official complaint about the property and the owner.
And for all the non-business travellers, the place looks great, but do not look too closely, and you will like it. I am still baffled why he gets so a high rating, do people not know the difference between marble floor and dirt?Brahim the genius – Vinay from United Kingdom – 26 May 2024 (10/10)
Brahim was amazing 👏
He was helpfully and knowledgeable.
The maid comes to the apartment and makes breakfast for you at your required time.
The apartment is spacious, clean, and in a quiet location, away from the traffic.
It has 2 separate toilets and a little courtyard.
Again, hats off to Brahim he was very good.
What could be improved: Towels. Needed bigger towels.
