You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name says “Cosy appartement” and honestly, I was expecting something pretty basic tucked away in the medina. But walking down Derb Bouaanan — which, fair warning, is one of those narrow alleys where you’ll definitely get turned around your first time — I realized this spot is actually something special. The 9.2 rating isn’t just inflated reviews from people who’ve never left their hometown.

The thing about staying in the medina is that you’re either going to love the authentic chaos or spend your whole trip complaining about the noise and maze-like streets. This apartment gets the balance right though. It’s deep enough into the old city that you feel like you’re actually experiencing Marrakech, not just visiting it, but the specific derb it’s on doesn’t get the heavy foot traffic that’ll have you listening to haggling sessions until midnight. I mean, you’ll still hear the call to prayer and the occasional motorbike squeezing through (how they manage those narrow passages, I’ll never understand), but it’s more atmospheric than annoying. The apartment itself has that traditional riad feel — you know, the tiled floors that stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, thick walls that actually keep the temperature reasonable. What I really appreciated was how they’ve modernized the practical stuff without losing the character. The shower has proper water pressure, which… if you’ve stayed in some of the more “authentic” places in the medina, you know that’s not always a given.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a ten-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa if you know where you’re going (fifteen if you’re still figuring out the medina’s logic), and there’s this little bakery two streets over where locals actually go for their morning bread — not the tourist-priced stuff near the main square. The family running the place seems to know the neighborhood well, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re navigating the medina for the first time. They’ll point you toward the good hammam, tell you which spice vendors won’t triple their prices when they hear your accent, that sort of thing. It’s not luxury in the resort sense — don’t expect a pool or fancy lobby — but it’s got that homey feeling that makes you want to linger over morning coffee instead of rushing out to tick off sightseeing boxes. The 4-star rating feels right; it’s comfortable and well-maintained without being fancy enough to make you feel like you’re missing out on the “real” Marrakech experience.

  Great location if you in to exploring medina, very quiet. Everything was in working order. High ceilings makes it feel more spacious. You also get an access to the cosy terrace on the top of the roof from 9am to 9pm. Owner was very helpful and nice. Explained everything and advised the places to visit in Medina.
  
  What could be improved: It's not dislikes but just things to know. If you are going to cook food yourself, then you will miss extraction fan, but high ceilings kind of help here. There is only two windows (high up) in the apartment, but I guess its totally fine it's Medina.

  The accommodation was very well located, in perfect condition, well decorated and with two bathrooms. It also has a kitchen if you need it and a very cool terrace. The hosts, especially Ikram, are charming. We were welcomed with pastries and tea, she showed us all the important things to see in the city and also answered us kindly to everything we needed. A charm, a 10!!

  The host Ikram was very helpful and welcoming not just on arrival but through out the time of our stay and was always responsive at short notice for any queries. Our flight was delayed and we reached late and she welcomed us with a cup of tea and home made cookies. The place is located close to the souks and Medina and with shops nearby to get basic essentials. We really enjoyed our stay as a family and would highly recommend it. The terrace also has a lovely set up for having just a relaxing time if you feel like doing nothing.
  
  What could be improved: The check out time could have been better communicated on Booking.com. Its 12 noon – knowing this earlier would have helped us better plan our last day, but nevertheless, it wasnt that much of a hassle as Ikram made arrangements for us to leave our luggage and spend the day out and also use the terrace, so it is not a big problem.

  Very cool building, and the apartment is excellent. We especially loved the living room, the fact that it had two bathrooms, the rooftop terrace, and Ikram’s kindness.
