Cosy Bagatelle Houses 1 & 2 Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Cosy Bagatelle Houses on rue Yougoslavie, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds a bit fancy, but it’s actually this really charming setup where you’ve got two connected houses that feel more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel. You know what struck me immediately? The quiet. Even though you’re right in Gueliz (which, if you don’t know Marrakech, is basically the modern part of town where locals actually live and work), these houses sit back from the main road noise in this little residential pocket that feels surprisingly peaceful.

The whole Résidence Terrasse de Bagatelle complex is one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t figured out yet. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Avenue Mohammed V where all the cafés and shops are, but somehow it feels like you’re in this quiet neighborhood bubble. The houses themselves have this great mix of Moroccan touches without being overly themed – you won’t find brass lanterns everywhere or fake Atlas Mountains murals, thank god. Instead, it’s got that lived-in comfort with good air conditioning (crucial in Marrakech, trust me) and kitchenettes that actually work if you want to grab groceries from the Carrefour down the street and make breakfast.

What really sold me on this place was the practical stuff that matters when you’re actually staying somewhere for more than a night. The Wi-Fi works consistently – I was taking video calls without issues. There’s proper parking, which anyone who’s driven in Marrakech will tell you is worth its weight in gold. And honestly, the whole setup just feels… normal? In the best way possible. You’re not performing “tourist in Morocco” every time you walk through the lobby because there isn’t really a lobby – it’s more like coming home to houses where someone thought through what travelers actually need. The location means you can walk to decent restaurants (there’s this great little place called Café Clock about fifteen minutes away that locals go to), but you’re also close enough to grab a petit taxi to the medina when you want to do the whole souks experience. I stayed there during shoulder season in March, and while the medina was packed with tourists, coming back to rue Yougoslavie felt like stepping into real Marrakech – kids playing soccer in the streets, the call to prayer echoing off apartment buildings, the smell of tagines cooking in actual homes rather than tourist restaurants.

  • Exceptional – Alexandros from United Kingdom – 25 June 2025 (10/10)

The location was very convenient, close to bars and restaurants, minutes away from Gueliz plaza . The house is spacious and has a big balcony with nice view. The host was very responsive and the self check in process was very convenient

  • The gate of Africa – Grazyna from Poland – 1 May 2025 (7/10)

A good starting point for tours around the country – railway and bus stations are about 10 minutes walking distance. A big Carrefour market is 12 minutes away. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity, including "Bagatelle" with a beautiful art deco interior on the corner of the street. The main square, Jemaa el-Fnaa, is 40 minutes on foot.
The apartment has a nice layout and a large, very well furnished balcony.

What could be improved: The apartment wasn't prepared for our arrival (after 17.00) – the cleaning was still in progress.
Dirty oven and some kitchenware, dimly lit bathroom, no duvet cover!

  • Lovely apartment in Gueliz, Marrakech – Karen from United Kingdom – 1 April 2025 (10/10)

Lovely apartment in Marrakech. Clean and comfortable. Felt very safe. Staff on the door were friendly and good communication from the owner. Good location. Easy walk into the centre of Marrakech and lots of restaurants and a few pubs in the area.

  • A great little apartment for up to two adults that could be used even for few weeks stays. Highly recommended. – Ivana from Serbia – 1 February 2024 (10/10)

I loved everything about the property. As a female solo traveler from Europe, a little private apartment, which can easily accommodate two adults, located in Gueliz was just the perfect choice. The owner is amazing, the location is perfect, many restaurants and cafes, both cheap and up scale, around. You will not regret if you opt for this property, especially as a solo traveler.

What could be improved: There is nothing not to like about the property.

  • very nice place and very comfortable. – Lucina from United States – 20 November 2022 (10/10)

    it was so nice

What could be improved: it was a little loud at night because of the night clubs downstairs
