You know what struck me first about Dar Anass? It’s tucked away in this quiet residential area called Targa that honestly feels like a completely different world from the chaos of the medina. I mean, you’re still in Marrakech – you can hear the call to prayer and catch glimpses of the Atlas Mountains from the rooftop – but there’s this peaceful, almost village-like quality to the neighborhood that I wasn’t expecting from a 4-star place.

The riad itself is one of those authentic converted traditional houses that actually feels authentic, if that makes sense. You walk through this unassuming entrance and suddenly you’re in this gorgeous courtyard with original zellij tilework that’s clearly been maintained by people who actually care about craftsmanship. The staff – and I’m pretty sure the owner was around when I was there – genuinely seem to know the city inside and out. They pointed me toward this little café about a 10-minute walk away that serves the best msemen I had during my entire stay, the kind of local spot you’d never find on your own. The rooms are spacious (rare for a riad, honestly) and the air conditioning actually works, which… well, if you’ve been to Marrakech in summer, you know why that matters.

What really won me over was how they handle the practical stuff that can make or break a trip. The location means you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds and aggressive vendors right outside your door, but you’re still only about a 15-minute taxi ride to Jemaa el-Fnaa when you want that energy. They helped arrange airport transfers without the usual runaround, and the wifi actually reaches the rooms – I ended up working from their terrace a couple mornings because it was so reliable. The breakfast spread changes daily and includes proper Moroccan options alongside the usual continental stuff, served in this beautiful dining room that catches the morning light perfectly. I’ll be honest, the neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, so if you’re looking to stumble home from late-night bar hopping, this might not be your spot. But if you want to experience Marrakech without feeling like you’re staying in a theme park version of Morocco, and you appreciate when a place consistently delivers on the small details that matter, Dar Anass really gets it right. That 9.6 rating isn’t just people being generous – it’s what happens when a hotel understands that travelers want authenticity without sacrificing comfort.

  The apartment is very modern. It was very clean when I arrived. There is a washing machine to wash/clean your clothes.

  Close to my fiancées family home.
  Very helpful hosts. They live in an apartment upstairs and They took care of me when I was sick 😷 May Allah bless them.
  The air conditioning worked like a dream and it was perfect in every room.
  You can find taxis if you walk for 5 minutes to the main road.
  As the hosts live upstairs, any issues were resolved very quickly. Thank you Said.
