Dar Christine Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – finding Dar Christine wasn’t exactly straightforward the first time. You’re deep in the medina on Touala de Berrima, which means you’ll be wandering through those maze-like alleys with your luggage, probably getting turned around at least once. But here’s the thing: once you actually find it, you realize that’s kind of the whole point. This place feels genuinely tucked away from the tourist chaos, which in Marrakech is worth its weight in gold.
The riad itself is one of those traditional Moroccan houses that’s been converted thoughtfully – I mean, they kept all the character but actually made it work for travelers. The central courtyard is gorgeous, honestly, with that classic fountain and the kind of tilework that makes you want to sit there with mint tea for hours. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings. You know how some riads in the medina can feel cramped or echo-y? Dar Christine has this calm, almost zen-like quality once the sun goes down. The rooms vary quite a bit – some have those traditional alcove beds, others are more straightforward – but they all have decent air conditioning, which you’ll definitely need if you’re visiting between May and September.
The staff really makes the difference here. They’re not just polite; they actually know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about getting to Jemaa el-Fnaa without dealing with the main tourist drag, they walked me through this shortcut that locals use – saved me about fifteen minutes and a lot of hassle with vendors. The breakfast spread is solid too, served in that gorgeous courtyard or up on the terrace if you want to catch some morning sun. Nothing fancy, but fresh bread, local honey, and proper Moroccan coffee. What struck me most was how the place manages to feel authentically Moroccan without being a theme park version of itself. Sure, it’s got that 4-star polish, but it doesn’t feel sanitized. You’ll still hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques, still catch whiffs of tagines cooking from neighboring houses, still navigate those narrow streets where donkeys occasionally have the right of way. It’s Marrakech, just with a really comfortable bed to come back to.

Reviews of Dar Christine
Buona posizione, tante cose da migliorare – Salvatore from Italy – 3 May 2025 (6/10)
Ottima posizione, proprietaria persona gentilissima
What could be improved: Il bagno aveva un guasto non segnalato in precedenza. Very good – Christiane from Germany – 30 October 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: Die Straße ist sehr laut, leider auch nachts.Superb – Atika from France – 5 May 2024 (9/10)
Appartement très agréable – Lionel from France – 4 January 2024 (9/10)
Merci.
