Dar Kamango Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Dar Kamango? The moment you turn into that quiet residential stretch in Tamazouzte, it’s like Marrakech just… exhales. I mean, you’re still close enough to catch the evening call to prayer drifting over from the medina, but suddenly there’s actual space to breathe and these massive palm trees creating natural shade everywhere.
The riad itself sits in this converted villa that honestly feels more like staying at your well-traveled friend’s gorgeous home than a hotel. The owners – and I’m pretty sure it’s family-run because the same woman who checked me in was later arranging fresh mint tea in the courtyard – they’ve kept all the traditional Moroccan details but added things that actually matter when you’re tired from a day of navigating souks. Like, the Wi-Fi works everywhere (even poolside), the hot water doesn’t take fifteen minutes to warm up, and there’s this perfect reading nook with proper lighting near the main sitting area. The pool area is where I ended up spending most afternoons, actually – it’s not huge, but it’s surrounded by these flowering plants that smell incredible in the evening, and you can hear birds instead of constant traffic noise.
What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to know Marrakech inside and out. When I mentioned wanting to find good pottery but avoiding the tourist trap prices, they didn’t just point me toward the medina – they drew me a little map to this workshop in the Sidi Ghanem industrial quarter where actual craftspeople work. And parking, which nobody talks about but everyone stresses over in Morocco – they’ve got a secure spot right on the property, which is honestly worth its weight in gold if you’re doing any day trips to the Atlas Mountains or Essaouira. The breakfast deserves a mention too because it’s this perfect mix of Moroccan breads and pastries with enough familiar options that you won’t go hungry, all served in this sun-drenched courtyard where you can actually plan your day without feeling rushed. I stayed there during shoulder season in March, and honestly, I can’t imagine wanting to be anywhere more central or bustling – sometimes the best part of Marrakech is having a peaceful place to retreat to when the sensory overload gets real.

See you soon Dar Camango!Warm room in the winter, really beautiful garden and house – Cliox from Slovenia – 5 January 2025 (10/10)
We were visiting in the winter and the room was really warm which is rare! The beds were really comfortable, the food was good and the whole lot is really taken care of and beautiful. Also the owner was really nice and acomodating.
What could be improved: I would love to go into the pool but it was winter ☺️Exceptional – Hanar from United Kingdom – 30 December 2024 (10/10)
Our stay at Dar Kamango was fantastic! Martine and Mohammed were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met, the villa was amazing as such as a palace , We especially loved the comfortable beds and the delicious breakfast options offered each morning. We would definitely recommend this guest house to anyone visiting Marrakech.
This is an exceptionally good value for money respite location. Bird song, fresh air, their own Well that provides fresh – Sam from United Kingdom – 18 June 2024 (10/10)
As a solo female wheelchair user I am very anxious about accessibility & descriptions of access – I expressed when booking that I would need a seat in the shower & step free access (I don’t personally ‘need’ a wet room or roll in shower but I do need a seat.
When we arrived there was some confusion about my wheelchair user and I entered via the front door of a gorgeous house in a very rural area – there were steps though! Turns out there was a level access entrance on some very decent pathways further into the gravel car park area which I later used. There was one small step into my guesthouse too which was ok for me on this trip but could disable other guests – Martine & Pacha were already measuring for a ramp to be made for this & seemed genuinely keen to make the guesthouse spaces accessible. The guesthouses were incredible. In such a rural area it was an absolute dream to go for a swim at night with the stars in the sky & incredible bird song almost all of the time. It is a stunning property.
What could be improved: I was concerned when I arrived as was guided through the main house which had steps, rather than taken to use the step free entrance- I think this was a genuine error as they saw me get out of the car to get my chair ready. My only gripe about the entire trip really is that was unnecessary since they have BRILLIANT paths throughout the gardens and into them from the private car park.Exceptional – Liam from United Kingdom – 3 November 2023 (10/10)
The hosts were really warm, friendly, and helpful, even accommodating us by moving our rooms due to some works. The food was varied and to a very high standard – as well as being affordable. The gardens and grounds are lovely and very well-kept, providing a quiet and peaceful environment perfect for recuperation from the bustle of Marrakesh. It's also a great base for a trip to the Atlas Mountains. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, 10/10 would highly recommend.

What could be improved: NothingStunning villa in rural setting with mountain views and exceptional Moroccan cuisine. – Klara from Ireland – 5 January 2023 (10/10)
The villa was amazing, with stunning views of the Atlas mountains. The pool was really clean and I used it every day. The food was of such high quality and taste, we didn't want to leave or eat elsewhere.
What could be improved: There wasn't anything not to like!Oasis – Ruben from Portugal – 4 September 2022 (10/10)
The landscape, the perfectly kept garden by the hands of Mehdi, the pool, the arab / Moroccan architecture, the tireless Bouchra that made us feel at home. Her meals and her breakfasts are absolutely amazing. She is really nice and always there.
What could be improved: When coming from the Airport, you must tell taxi driver to approach by East. If you come from West, google maps or waze will guide you through a 4×4 only road.
