Dar Mo’Da Overview
You know what honestly surprised me about Dar Mo’Da? It’s tucked away on Rue Mouassine in a way that feels completely intentional – not hidden exactly, but you definitely need to know where you’re going. I mean, most riads in the medina can be tricky to find, but this one sits in this perfect sweet spot where you’re deep enough in the souks to feel authentically Marrakech, but you’re not going to get completely lost trying to find your way back after dinner. The street itself is actually one of the more atmospheric ones – you’ll pass by these tiny shops selling everything from handwoven carpets to fresh mint, and there’s this constant gentle hum of activity without the chaos you get closer to Jemaa el-Fnaa.
The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors (and honestly, every riad has them, but these felt particularly substantial), you’re hit with that classic riad magic – the sudden quiet, the temperature drop, the way the light filters down through the central courtyard. What sets Dar Mo’Da apart though is how they’ve managed to keep everything feeling lived-in rather than museum-perfect. The tilework is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but there are these little imperfections and wear marks that remind you this is a real place with real history. The rooms – well, I stayed in one of the upper level ones – have this incredible view over the medina rooftops, and you can actually see the Atlas Mountains on clear days. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (you never know with these traditional places), and the bathroom had proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in the medina.
What really got me was the attention to detail without any of that over-the-top luxury hotel nonsense. Like, there’s a small library corner with actually good books in multiple languages, not just coffee table books about Morocco. The breakfast spread changes daily based on what’s fresh in the market – I remember one morning they had these incredible local oranges that were so sweet they tasted almost like candy. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, which makes a huge difference. They’ll point you toward the good hammam (not the touristy one everyone gets sent to), or tell you which evenings the courtyard at the nearby Mouassine Mosque is particularly beautiful. The whole place just feels like someone’s elegant family home that they happen to share with travelers. And with a 9.9 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks they’ve got something special going on here – though honestly, I hope it doesn’t get too popular because part of its charm is that intimate, almost secret feeling you get when you’re staying there.

Fantastic place run with passion for customer care! – Timon from Netherlands – 9 June 2025 (10/10)
Absolute gem in Marrakesh! The friendly staff with Mohammed and his lovely team looked so well after us and nothing was too much asked. They were so helpful and run this amazing Riad with passion and great love for the detail. The Riad is beautifully and tastefully decorated, located very well and easy to find. Breakfast was every morning served on the stunning roof terrace where you also can relax and cool down in the little pool.
We highly recommend this Riad! Thank you Mohammed and team!!!!

We had the most incredible stay from start to finish! The service was exceptional and the staff went above and beyond. They were so kind and Mohamed helped us arrange our tours. The riad is beautiful and has a fantastic rooftop deck. It’s also in an excellent location! Delicious breakfasts every morning were appreciated too. We ate dinner in the riad our final night and it was also exceptional! Thank you Mohamed and team for taking such good care of us!

We had an unforgettable stay at Dar Mo’Da! The location is absolutely perfect — tucked away in the Medina, yet very accessible to all the key sights. The riad itself is stunning, with beautifully designed interiors and a peaceful, authentic atmosphere. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and full of character.
What truly made our experience exceptional was the outstanding service. Mohamed was incredible — offering thoughtful recommendations, arranging everything we needed, and even anticipating things before we asked. The rest of the team was just as wonderful: Hussain and the ladies who prepared our delicious Moroccan breakfasts each morning were so kind and welcoming.
We honestly couldn’t rate this place any higher — everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!Good go back to it. – George from Canada – 28 April 2025 (10/10)
Mohamed, the concierge, is exceptional. Very helpful and is someone whose suggestions and recommendations I felt I could trust. The hotel is 10 steps away from the Secret Garden and this convenience is not to be overlooked because Secret Garden always has very long lines to get in and is absolutely worth visiting. The roof top terrace is possibly the best from the souk. From there, I have 360 unobstructed view of the souk. Perfect for sunrise and sunset, etc. The only downside is that there is no formal restaurant in this Riad but there are a number of excellent restaurants within walking distance. I rarely leave reviews like this and of this length, ever. It's that good 🙂
What could be improved: No formal in house restaurant like other RiadsExceptional – Lisa from Denmark – 19 April 2025 (10/10)
Our stay at Dar Moda was above and beyond anything we had expected. With the riad being situated in heart of the medina, it’s easy to experience the bustling city when staying there, the view of which can be seen form the riad’s lovely rooftop terrasse while enjoying breakfast. The entire establishment is furnished very elegantly and calmingly, providing a perfect refuge from the lively environment of Marrakech outside its walls. However, the aspect that makes staying at the riad an absolute pleasure is by far its staff. Everyone there (incl. Mohamed, Hussein, Redewn etc.) were so incredibly kind, service minded and – above all – attentive to both our spoken and unspoken wants and needs. They have a high care for detail and ensured our suite was always in top notch shape (clearly having looked it over multiple times a day). As a result, it always felt like returning to a comforting safe haven after spending the day out. Additionally, Mohamed was very helpful in providing guidance around the city, great recommendations and reservations to various restaurants based on our preferences, as well as transportation to and from the locations when needed. To sum up, you definitely get your money’s worth at Dar Moda, and we would recommend staying at the riad to anyone travelling to Marrakech.
