Dar Taliwint Overview
You know what really got me about Dar Taliwint? It’s tucked away on rue de la Bahia in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special, even though — let’s be honest — plenty of people know about it by now with that 9.4 rating. But here’s the thing: it actually lives up to the hype.
The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the heart of the medina without dealing with the absolute chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa every time you step outside. You’re in Riad Zitoun Jdid, which I mean, sounds fancy but it’s really just the newer part of the old medina (everything’s relative in Marrakech). The narrow alleyways around here buzz with local life — you’ll hear the call to prayer mixing with shopkeepers haggling and kids playing football against ancient walls. It’s authentic in a way that doesn’t feel performed for tourists, if that makes sense. The riad itself is one of those converted traditional houses where every corner seems to have a story, and the interior courtyard — God, the courtyard — is exactly what you picture when you think about Moroccan architecture, but better because you’re actually living in it for a few days.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep the historical character while making everything work for modern travelers. The rooms aren’t huge (this is a medina riad, not a beach resort), but they’re thoughtfully designed with proper air conditioning that actually works — trust me, you’ll appreciate this in summer. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, not in that overly rehearsed hotel way, but more like they’re proud of their place and want you to love Marrakech as much as they do. They’ll give you directions that actually make sense and restaurant recommendations that aren’t just whoever’s paying them commission. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and honestly, the timing was perfect — warm days, cool evenings, and the riad’s rooftop terrace became my favorite spot for morning coffee and evening wine. You can see across the medina’s rooftops to the Atlas Mountains on clear days, which is pretty spectacular. The only minor thing I’d mention is that sound carries in these old buildings, so you might hear your neighbors chatting or moving around, but that’s just part of the authentic riad experience. Plus, the medina itself is never completely quiet — there’s always some distant sound of life happening, which I found charming rather than annoying. For a four-star place, it punches well above its weight, and that 9.4 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects how this place makes you feel like you’re really experiencing Marrakech, not just visiting it.

Reviews of Dar Taliwint
Superb – Sylvia from Germany – 8 June 2025 (9/10)
Lovely Riad, with welcoming hosts, always happy to assist. Great location in the medina, however quiet and peaceful!
Accomodation equipped with everything you need. Typical moroccan breakfast with sweets and fruits, tea and coffee.Exceptional – Vivien from United Kingdom – 4 June 2025 (10/10)
The Riad was in an excellent location where all main attractions could be visited by foot. The property itself was very traditional, spacious and clean. The host was very welcoming and gave us recommendations of places to go as well as was kind enough to organise transfers to and from the airport. The breakfast was the cherry on top and would recommend anyone coming to Marrakech to stay here.
What could be improved: N/AHighly recommended, everything was just perfect. We’ll definitely come back on our next trip. – M from Spain – 20 May 2025 (10/10)
Perfect experience! The room was exactly as advertised: walls were well painted, no bad odors in the bathroom, the shower had good pressure and hot water. Breakfast were great. We really enjoyed the common areas, they were beautiful and comfortable. After a long touring day it was a pleasure to chill out in the terrace with the great views and once the sun sets there is a cozy library as well. The location is great, just a minute from one of the main streets that lead to Yamaa el Fna and is well illuminated at night. All the employees and the owner were incredibly kind and welcoming.
What could be improved: If I had to say something the mattress was a bit too hard and the lightning of the room a bit too dim. Nothing that would stop us from coming back to this riad on our next trip.A wonderful welcome to Marrakesh – Lois from Canada – 18 May 2025 (10/10)
We enjoyed our stay at this comfortable ryad. We arrived late at the airport so the prearranged pick up was ideal and necessary, at that time of night, to find the ryad. When we woke and explored the neighborhood, we realized how well located it was. The owner went out of his way to provide us with information about Marrakesh. We are now three weeks into our trip. The breakfasts at Dar Taliwint have been the most varied and delicious.
Very enjoyable. – Russell from United Kingdom – 7 May 2025 (9/10)
Breakfast OK. Location perfect for us. An excellent small Riad. The owner was very helpful.
Will definitely go back again. Friendly, spotlessly clean, a warm welcome and recommendations given for what to do when – Mark from United Kingdom – 6 May 2025 (10/10)
A stunning Riad, with wonderful hosts and fabulous breakfasts too.
Quiet, authenic, welcoming host. – Gabriela from Romania – 27 April 2025 (10/10)
The accommodation is very authentic and has a certain je ne sais quoi. The host is very amiable and offers great recommendations about Marrakech. We greatly loved the restaurant Lenaik recommended us.
Faultless! – Nina from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (10/10)
Gorgeous little Riad in a perfect location very close to the Bahia Palace. Our room was very comfortable with some great additional touches such as a fridge and toiletries. Lenaick was a very hospitable host, his team were delightful. Breakfast was fabulous. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I came back to Marrakech.
Very Good Short Stay – Swarts from Netherlands – 12 March 2025 (10/10)
The Riad was well located in Medina. The room was good with a good size bathroom. It was typical MENA type architecture and decorations.
Breakfast was made as ordered with good coffee, juices and sweet stuff. Eggs also available.
The host even meet you at the taxi stop. In Morocco I advise to use taxi provided by host.
What could be improved: I have no complains.Great place – Mihail-ioan from Romania – 28 February 2025 (10/10)
Quite a lovely place, it looks amazing and, in a touristic city, manages to stay true to the culture.
We're sure to be back here when we return to Marrakech.
