Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of riads in Marrakech, and honestly? Dar Zemora is the kind of place that makes you forget you’re technically still a tourist. It’s tucked away on rue el Aandalib in the Palmerais – and I mean really tucked away, which is actually perfect because you get that authentic residential vibe without the chaos of the medina. The street’s quiet enough that you can actually hear the call to prayer echoing across the palm groves in the morning, but you’re not so far out that getting a taxi becomes a whole production.

What got me right away was how the place feels lived-in, you know? Not in a worn-down way, but like someone’s elegant aunt just happened to have extra rooms and decided to share them. The staff – and I’m usually pretty skeptical about this stuff – genuinely seemed to care about getting the details right. My room had this incredible mix of traditional tiles and modern touches that didn’t feel forced, plus the AC actually worked (trust me, in Marrakech heat, this matters more than Instagram-worthy decor). The courtyard’s got this fountain that’s not too loud at night, which is honestly a relief because I’ve stayed places where the water feature becomes white noise torture by 2 AM.

Here’s what really sold me though – the location gives you options. You can walk to some seriously good local spots that most tourists never find (there’s this little café about ten minutes away where the locals actually hang out), but you’re also close enough to the main attractions that you’re not spending half your day in transit. The breakfast situation is solid too, not just the standard hotel buffet nonsense but actual local pastries and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. I mean, at a 9.8 rating you’d expect things to be good, but sometimes high ratings come from people who’ve never left their resort bubble – this place earns it from travelers who actually know Morocco. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, that might be a feature not a bug depending on why you’re there.

  From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, we felt like being in paradise. It is a beautiful house on immaculate grounds, both being extremely well equipped and maintained. But the best of it all was the superb yet discreet service by Youssef and his team…always extremely friendly. Food was very good, breakfast, lunch and dinner – but also the „little extras“ such as water and mint tea&cake at the pool.
  We also enjoyed the opportunity of a private transport to the medina, coordinated by Youssef. Fixed price, excellent A/C vans and extremely friendly, English speaking drivers…this way you can easily combine the exciting hustle and bustle of the Medina with a relaxed stay at the quiet extended grounds at the Palmeraie.

  From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. Dar Zemora is a very special place. Beautiful rooms, a stunning pool area, croquet lawn, boule area and spa treatments all in an oasis of peace and quiet outside the centre of Marrakesh. The staff were all charming and so attentive and go out of their way to look after you or help you. The food was interesting and delicious. I highly recommend staying here if you love bird life beautiful immaculate gardens and peace. I shall definitely be returning as do many other guests. I took my 87 yr old mother and she has asked to go back already!! Thank you

  From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. Dar Zemora is a very special hotel – beautiful gardens and birdsong, lovely rooms, a stunning pool area all in an oasis of peace and quiet outside the centre of Marrakesh. The staff are all so attentive and go out of their way to help you. Highly recommend – I will be returning as are most people we met there returning after many years.

  Heaven. So peaceful and beautiful. The grounds are wonderful and it was a delight to see baby tortoises, tiny kittens and a huge array of birds.
  The staff have the great combination of being attentive but relaxed and the food was excellent.
  The interiors are gorgeous -the perfect balance of traditional Moroccan with a sort of mid century glamour -the place feels like it’s been there for well over its 20 years. Authentic and beautiful -no gimmicks or novelty value (or any sort of ‘instagram’ feeling, thank God!). In short, a very special place with integrity. 10/10.

  It’s a beautiful and quiet hotel. The staff is amazing, food is delicious and our room was very spacious and beautiful. It’s located 20 min from the city but if you want to be away from the city and enjoy the nature and peace, this is the right place for you.
