I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Design, résidence standing, Salon modern, Terrasse,” I thought someone had just mashed a bunch of French real estate terms together. But you know what? It actually describes this place pretty well, even if it sounds like it was named by a committee.

The location on Rue Capitaine Ben Ali Belhaj puts you in this interesting spot where modern Marrakech meets the more traditional neighborhoods. It’s not right in the heart of the medina chaos (thank god), but you’re close enough that you can hear the evening call to prayer drifting over – which is actually pretty magical when you’re sitting on that terrace they mention in the name. The building itself has this clean, contemporary vibe that feels refreshing after spending days wandering through the souks. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love the traditional riads, but sometimes you just want reliable wifi and a shower that doesn’t require an engineering degree to operate.

What really won me over was how they’ve balanced modern comfort with just enough Moroccan character that you don’t feel like you’re staying in some generic international hotel. The common areas have these gorgeous modern furnishings – hence the “salon modern” part of the name – but they’ve incorporated local textiles and artwork without going overboard with the whole “authentic experience” thing. The terrace is honestly the best part, especially during those cooler evening hours when the Atlas Mountains catch the last light. You can actually see them on clear days, which surprised me since I wasn’t expecting mountain views from this part of the city. The staff knows their stuff too – they’ll tell you which hammams are worth your time and which restaurant down the street serves the best tagine (spoiler: it’s not the touristy one on the corner).

Now, it’s rated 7 out of 10, and that feels about right. It’s solid, comfortable, well-run, but it’s not going to blow your mind. The rooms are spacious by Marrakech standards, and everything works like it should. The neighborhood gets a bit lively on weekend evenings – mostly locals, not tourists – but if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle, though they’ll help you figure it out. What I appreciated most was how it felt like staying in a well-designed apartment rather than a hotel room. There’s something about having that extra space and those modern touches that makes the whole Marrakech experience feel more sustainable, if that makes sense. Like you could actually live here for a while instead of just surviving until your next meal of pastilla and mint tea.

  Appartement grand et fonctionnel. Ibrahim nous a très bien accueilli. Café et épicerie juste en bas. Résidence calme. La terrasse est sympa..
  
  What could be improved: L'appartement n'est pas très propre et un peu vétuste. Il ne correspond pas aux photos. Les rideaux ferment mal, les tapis et le sol ne sont pas très propres, il est assez éloigné du centre, il faut être véhiculé sauf pour aller à Guéliz.
  Sur les photos on a l'impression qu il y a des parois de douche mais pas du tout, il y a juste un pommeau dans les 2 douches juste à côté des WC. C'est dommage, il manque juste un peu de rafraîchissement et un plus de ménage pour en faire un appartement plus agréable..
