El Andalous Lounge & Spa Hotel Overview

Look, I’ll be straight with you about El Andalous Lounge & Spa Hotel – it’s one of those places that grows on you once you figure out what it’s actually about. When I first pulled up on Avenue President Kennedy (and yes, you’ll definitely want to grab a taxi from Jemaa el-Fnaa rather than walk it), I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. The Hivernage district is interesting like that – it’s got this mix of upscale hotels and residential buildings that feels more like modern Marrakech than the medina chaos most people picture.

The thing about El Andalous is that it really leans into that spa-lounge concept, which I mean… some places just slap “spa” on their name and call it a day, but these folks seem to get it. The whole vibe is actually pretty chill once you settle in. I spent most of my first afternoon just wandering around trying to figure out the layout (it’s not huge, but there are these little nooks and corners that aren’t immediately obvious), and honestly? That’s part of its charm. The staff – and this surprised me – actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. Not just “go to the souks” but like, which hammam is worth your time and when to avoid the tourist crush at certain restaurants.

What really sold me on the place was the attention to those small details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere for more than just Instagram shots. The rooms are solid four-star territory – nothing that’ll blow your mind, but the AC works properly (crucial in Marrakech, trust me), the water pressure is decent, and you know what? The beds are actually comfortable. I’ve stayed at fancier places where I couldn’t sleep because the mattress felt like concrete. The spa facilities are legit too – I’m usually skeptical of hotel spas, but they’ve got therapists who know what they’re doing, and the hammam experience felt authentic rather than like some watered-down tourist version.

Here’s the thing though – and I wish someone had told me this upfront – the hotel sits at a 7.6 rating for a reason. It’s good, really good actually, but it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Marrakech. What it does well is create this sort of relaxed atmosphere where you can actually unwind between exploring the city. The location works in your favor too – you’re close enough to walk to some great local spots (there’s this little café about ten minutes away that locals actually frequent), but far enough from the medina that you’re not dealing with constant noise and commotion. Parking isn’t a nightmare if you’re renting a car, which honestly can’t be said for a lot of places in the city. If you’re looking for that perfect balance between authentic Moroccan hospitality and modern comfort – without paying resort prices – El Andalous actually delivers on what it promises.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Good value and comfortable – Kye from United Kingdom – 11 June 2025 (8/10)

Pool has great staff who are very attentive, rooms clean, good choice for breakfast, pool very nice with good views of garden, good location close to mall

What could be improved: Rooms not very modern, bed moves away from wall, you have to pay for gym use

  • Lovely hotel, good location, good food and good choice for walkers/cyclists/families/etc. – Richard from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

    Short walk to old city.
Easy to get out of city by bike.
    Supermarket and restaurants near by.

What could be improved: This is not a complaint as they did let us store our bikes. Would be really nice if they had a specialist bike storage room though.

I like my stay here, very good hotel

  • Nice staying at El Andalous in Marrakesh – Nuno from Portugal – 28 April 2025 (8/10)

Very nice pool and cozy room with view for the swimming pool and the gardens.
Comfortable rooms and quiet zone – not in the historic zone but central (35 mins walking to Jemaa el-Fnaa).
Nice breakfast and nice breakfast zone – the restaurante room is big and noisy but you can have the breakfast in the swimming pool zone that is very relaxing.

What could be improved: In the end I needed to paid more that what was agreed on booking.com… I didn't understand why but the overall cost was above what I booked in the site. As I arrived late afternoon and wanted to go to the swimming pool, I didn't try to understand… but I thought strange the value they were charging me in the front desk and I confirmed it was above what I had (and it was not exchange rate… that I confirmed).

Friendly, helpful staff, clean, A/C, heating worked well. Hot water when needed. Food and service in the a la carte restaurant good. Near the airport – about 12 minutes in a taxi depending on traffic. Right next to the park for walks and exercise

What could be improved: Properly a little bit dated.

What could be improved: Breakfast need an improvement.
Entire hotel might benefit of a refurbishment…obviously we would then have to pay for it.
