It’s tucked away in this residential building on Boulevard Abdelkrim Al Khattabi – I actually walked past it twice before realizing apartment B21 on the third floor was my home for the next few days. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. While everyone else is crowding into the traditional riads in the medina, you’re living like a local in Gueliz, which is basically Marrakech’s modern neighborhood where actual Moroccans hang out.

The apartment itself has this lived-in feel that’s way more comfortable than sterile hotel rooms. I mean, you’ve got a proper kitchen if you want to grab groceries from the Carrefour down the street (trust me, their olive section is incredible), and the living space actually feels like someone’s home rather than a showroom. The Wi-Fi was solid – I had video calls with zero issues, which isn’t always a given in Morocco. What really sold me was the terrace situation; you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and there’s something pretty magical about having your morning coffee while watching the city wake up below. The noise level is perfect too – you’re far enough from the medina chaos but close enough that a petit taxi ride costs maybe 15 dirhams.

Here’s the thing about staying in Gueliz that guidebooks don’t really tell you: you’re walking distance from some of the best casual eating spots in the city. There’s this little café called Café du Livre just a few blocks away where locals actually go for lunch, not just tourists Instagramming their tagines. And if you need to escape the intensity of traditional Marrakech for a bit – which, let’s be honest, everyone does – you can stroll down to the Majorelle Garden area or hit up the modern shopping centers without feeling like you’re completely missing the authentic experience. The host was pretty responsive too, though check-in did take a bit longer than expected since you have to coordinate with the building concierge. Small detail, but worth knowing if you’re arriving late. Overall, it’s got that sweet spot vibe where you feel like you’re experiencing real Marrakech life without sacrificing comfort – plus at this price point and with an 8.5 rating, you’re getting solid value in a city where accommodation can be hit or miss.

  En premier lieu, la communication de l'hôte dès le moment où la réservation a été faite sur Booking. Disponible, et serviable, elle a répondu à mes questions de manière rapide et professionnelle.
  Ensuite, le cadre et la proximité. Toute juste en face de la gare. Les taxis et indrive sont nombreux et l'attente est souvent relativement courte. D'ailleurs pour le retour, c'est facile à indiquer. A côté, il y a de nombreux cafés et restaurants, une supérette juste en face qui reste ouverte 24h.
  Enfin, les photos sont fidèles à l'appartement
  
  What could be improved: Même si de manière tous les équipements sont fonctionnels et modernes, je regrette l'éclairage qui donne un ton vieillot. Une lampe de chevet ou des lumières moins agressives auraient été un plus.
  Le bruit. A peine perceptible certes mais une oreille sensible aura du mal car l'appart est situé à proximité d'un carrefour bondé. Ne jamais ouvrir les balcons est le mieux à faire mais dommage de ne pas profiter de l'air frais du matin. .
