Es Saadi Marrakech Resort – Hotel Overview

You know what hit me first about Es Saadi? The smell – and I mean that in the best way possible. Walking into this place, you’re hit with this incredible mix of orange blossom and cedar that somehow doesn’t feel forced or artificial. It’s like they bottled the essence of a Marrakech evening and just let it drift through the lobby.

The hotel sits right in Hivernage, which honestly is probably the smartest area to stay in if you want to feel like you’re in Morocco but still have your creature comforts. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa – close enough that you can hear the faint drumming from the square on quiet nights, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of scooters and vendors. The Rue Ibrahim El Mazini location is actually perfect because you’ve got this buffer zone of palm-lined streets between you and the medina chaos. I’ve stayed in places right in the thick of it, and trust me, you appreciate having somewhere to retreat to.

What really sets Es Saadi apart though is how they’ve managed to feel authentically Moroccan without falling into that tourist trap territory. The gardens – God, the gardens – are this sprawling maze of olive trees, roses, and these massive palms that create these perfect little pockets of shade. I spent way too much time just wandering around with my morning coffee, discovering new corners. The pools (there are several) each have their own personality. The main one gets busy around midday, but there’s this smaller one tucked away near the spa that hardly anyone seems to find. Pro tip: grab a spot there around 4 PM when the light gets all golden and dreamy.

The rooms are spacious – I mean really spacious, not hotel brochure spacious. Traditional Moroccan touches like the carved wood headboards and zellige tiles, but they’ve got proper blackout curtains and the AC actually works, which you’ll appreciate when Marrakech hits those 100-degree days. The bathrooms have these deep soaking tubs that are perfect after a day of navigating the souks. Only minor complaint? The WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, though honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise.

Service here is interesting – it’s attentive without being hovering, if that makes sense. The staff genuinely seems to know the city well, and they’ll give you actual recommendations rather than just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots. They steered me toward this tiny restaurant tucked away in Gueliz that I never would have found otherwise.

The location really shines at night. While the medina can feel overwhelming after dark, Hivernage has this sophisticated energy. You can walk to some excellent restaurants – L’Comptoir and Lotus Club are both within easy reach – or just enjoy the hotel’s own dining options, which are surprisingly good for hotel food. The Casino de Marrakech is literally next door if that’s your thing, though I’ll be honest, I was more interested in the rooftop bar’s views of the Atlas Mountains. Es Saadi manages to capture that classic Moroccan luxury experience while still feeling like a place real people actually want to stay, not just photograph.

Reviews of Es Saadi Marrakech Resort – Hotel

  • Beautiful setting with wonderful staff and fabulous outdoor breakfasts – Anna from United Kingdom – 7 July 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful grounds and spotless with five star helpful staff

What could be improved: Occasional smell of sewage and bathrooms are needing a refurb. chipped bath and loo seat and old tile grout etc.

  • Very good – Anait from United Arab Emirates – 19 May 2025 (8/10)

Best location in Marrakech, however old property but very well maintained, clean and pleasant stay

What could be improved: Breakfast selection was very poor only eggs and sweets wish they had more to offer, staff was generally good but making inappropriate jokes sometimes

Luxurious old-style hotel.Hotel with a wonderful park and casino.

  • Superb – Sarah from United Kingdom – 28 February 2025 (9/10)

Facilities were great, and housekeeping kept our room perfect. The pool is great for swimming and heated.

What could be improved: Only downside was one of the bar staff who was always miserable and unhelpful.

  • Fabulous vacation – Hazem from Egypt – 20 February 2025 (9/10)

The staff was super nice – among others Khalid frim the breakfast team "demain" – Also the outside pool is heated. Staff very attentive and super welcoming!
Nice facilities incl Bar, Spa and Casino etc

What could be improved: The room of the 'hotel' not the palace could be refurbished. Also the breakfast area and reception. But it didn't disappoint us at all!

  • Superb – Pascal from United Kingdom – 8 April 2024 (9/10)

    Breakfast in the garden…

What could be improved: The idea that a 5 star hotel could not provide water in their fridge and therefore had to be charged for water during diner for a half board booking was not impressive

    Do something about that….

  • Overall comfortable stay. – Abdul from United Kingdom – 26 March 2024 (8/10)

Ali the night stuff receptionist was excellent because as soon as we complained about our beds in the room he immediately acted and upgraded our room. Awesome guy.

What could be improved: Colour of the towels, yellow😊. They could do better with softer towels.

  • Nice, clean hotel. Great if you don't want to be in the Medina. – Debbie from United Kingdom – 29 February 2024 (8/10)

Nice hotel just outside the Medina, great for a last night. Sat by the pool which is very clean.
