The rooms are spacious with these gorgeous tadelakt walls – that’s the traditional Moroccan lime plaster technique that feels smooth as silk under your fingers. What really got me was how quiet it gets at night; coming from the chaos of Marrakech’s medina, the silence here is almost shocking.

The location is brilliant if you’re looking to escape the tourist madness but still want to experience something uniquely Moroccan. You’re literally surrounded by the Agafay desert, which most people don’t even know exists – it’s this stunning stone desert that looks completely different from the sand dunes everyone pictures. The staff here actually knows the area inside and out, and they’ll set up these incredible experiences like camel rides at sunset or traditional Berber dinners under the stars. I did the dinner thing one night and honestly, watching the sun set over those rocky hills while someone played traditional music… it’s pretty magical. The food is solid too – they grow some of their own herbs and vegetables on-site, and you can taste the difference. The tagines are legit, not the watered-down tourist versions you get in the city center.

What I really appreciated is how they’ve managed to feel luxurious without being pretentious. The pool area is gorgeous – perfect for cooling off during the day when the desert heat kicks in – and the whole place has this relaxed, authentic atmosphere that makes you want to slow down. Sure, you’ll need to arrange transport back to Marrakech if you want to explore the souks or hit up Jemaa el-Fnaa (the main square), but that’s part of the charm. It forces you to actually disconnect for a bit. The Wi-Fi works fine if you need it, but honestly, you probably won’t want to use it much. I’d say this place is perfect if you want to experience Morocco beyond the typical tourist trail – it’s got that boutique hotel feel with genuine local character, and the desert setting is absolutely unforgettable.
