Hivernage Hotel & Spa Overview
You know what struck me first about the Hivernage Hotel & Spa? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet side street – Rue Des Temples – but you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa. I mean, you get the best of both worlds here: you can dive into the medina madness during the day, then retreat to this surprisingly peaceful bubble when you need to decompress.
The thing about Hivernage as a neighborhood is that it’s sort of Marrakech’s answer to a modern district – you’ve got the opera house nearby, decent restaurants that aren’t tourist traps, and honestly, it just feels more breathable than staying right in the thick of things. The hotel itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciated. It’s not trying to be some over-the-top riad with every surface covered in zellige tiles (though don’t get me wrong, those places have their charm). Instead, it strikes this nice balance between Moroccan touches and contemporary comfort that actually works.
What really sold me was the spa – and I’m usually skeptical about hotel spas, but this one’s legitimate. The hammam experience here is the real deal, not some watered-down version for tourists who can’t handle the authentic scrub-down. The staff actually knows what they’re doing, and the argan oil treatments use the good stuff, not the tourist-grade bottles you find in the souks. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend your afternoons – it’s got this serene vibe with just enough greenery to make you forget you’re in the middle of a bustling city. Fair warning though: it can get a bit crowded during peak season (March-April and October-November), so if you’re planning to claim a lounger, get there early.
The rooms are spacious by Marrakech standards, and here’s something I appreciated – the air conditioning actually works properly. You’d be surprised how many places here struggle with that. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms have good water pressure (another thing you can’t take for granted), and the soundproofing is decent enough that you won’t hear every conversation from the hallway. The wifi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to stay connected.
Look, it’s not perfect – the breakfast could use more variety beyond the standard continental spread, and sometimes the service can be a bit slow during busy periods. But honestly, for the price point and the location, it hits the sweet spot. You’re close enough to walk to the major sites but far enough away that you can actually get a good night’s sleep. Plus, there’s reliable parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Marrakech (though I’d recommend just using the hotel’s airport transfer service – trust me on this one). The 8.6 rating feels about right; it’s a solid choice that delivers on what it promises without any major surprises, good or bad.

Good overall but didn't feel like 5 star – Nikolaos from Switzerland – 24 June 2025 (8/10)
Great location, walking distance from restaurants and medina. Helpful staff. Delicious and varied breakfast. Nearby (30 m) parking available. Wide flat screen TV in front of bed.
What could be improved: Tried to watch a Netflix movie but the connection/network dropped every 10 min so impossible to watch. Ordered food from the room service menu (burger and pizza), food lacked quality, pizza felt like heated pre-cooked one.Very good – Mohammed from Saudi Arabia – 15 June 2025 (8/10)
Almost every thing and mostly the location
What could be improved: I don't like the attitude from the night Manager mr.ahmed he was very non qualified to be working directly with customers because he has very bad business communication… Never meet any one in any hotel or tourism field with this kind of bad personality and attitude so I think he must work on his Business communicationA Truly Luxurious and Welcoming Stay – Highly Recommend! – Ameerah from United Kingdom – 14 June 2025 (10/10)
I stayed at the Hivernage Hotel & Spa in Marrakech for three nights and four days, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were outstanding—incredibly helpful, kind, and genuinely welcoming.
A special thank you to Abdelafit, who checked me in and out with such professionalism and care. He patiently answered all my questions and went above and beyond to help me find directions to the fabric markets at Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, a must-see in Marrakech.
The spa experience was another highlight of my stay. Sofia and Salma made me feel so comfortable and helped recommend treatments that were perfect for me. I had my first hammam massage with Sadia, which left my skin unbelievably soft, followed by a deep tissue massage and facial with Asma—both were exceptional and left me feeling completely relaxed.
I also visited the salon at the hotel, where Mohammed gave me a fantastic shampoo, cut, and blow-dry. He styled my hair beautifully with soft layers and bouncy volume—it looked and felt amazing! A real treat during my trip.
The restaurant staff were also fantastic—always attentive, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Every meal was served with a smile and high-quality service.
The hotel itself is beautifully located—close to all the major sights but still offers a peaceful, luxurious retreat. It truly lives up to its 5-star rating in both amenities and service.
I highly recommend Hivernage Hotel & Spa and will definitely be returning!
