Hotel & Spa Dar Sara Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Derb Arst Aouzal – honestly, it’s one of those narrow alleys in the medina where you’re dodging donkeys and wondering if your GPS has completely lost its mind. But Hotel & Spa Dar Sara is tucked away back there like some kind of secret, and I mean that in the best possible way. The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors, it’s like someone just hit the volume button on all the chaos outside – suddenly you’re in this gorgeous riad courtyard with actual breathing room.
The thing about staying in the medina is that most places either go full tourist trap or they’re so “authentic” that you’re basically camping with fancy linens. This place actually gets the balance right. The rooms have that traditional Moroccan feel – you’ve got your carved plasterwork and rich textiles – but they’ve also figured out that travelers want reliable WiFi and water pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. I stayed in one of their suites (splurged a bit, no regrets) and honestly, the bathroom alone was worth it. The spa downstairs is legit too, though I’d book treatments early because word gets around fast in a place this size.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but like, which hammam nearby is better for first-timers versus locals, or how to cut through to Jemaa el-Fnaa without getting completely turned around. The location is perfect if you want to be in the thick of things but still have somewhere peaceful to retreat to. You’re maybe a ten-minute walk from the main square, close enough to the souks that you can easily duck back with your purchases, but far enough from the drumming and snake charmers that you’ll actually sleep at night. The breakfast spread is solid – fresh bread, local honey, mint tea that doesn’t taste like it came from a box – and they serve it in the courtyard when the weather’s nice, which is basically always. Only minor complaint is that the rooms facing the courtyard can get a bit echoey when other guests are chatting late, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for riads. For a four-star place with a 9 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for – that authentic Marrakech experience without sacrificing comfort.

Reviews of Hotel & Spa Dar Sara
A really lovely riad with exceptional service from staff. – Joanne from United Kingdom – 4 July 2025 (8/10)
Loved how everything looked and the service from staff was exceptional. We had complimentary tea on arrival, the hotel sorted a seamless transfer on checkout and even prepared a breakfast picnic since we would miss breakfast at the hotel.
What could be improved: It was trickier to get to than we anticipated as the street outside is pedestrian only. We were disturbed during the night by someone banging on our door.Exceptional – Laetitia from Philippines – 3 July 2025 (10/10)
Second time to stay at Dar Sara and i can definitely say I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Marrakech. We felt really at home there. Staff is very friendly and helpful, place is very clean and smells wonderful, our room was so comfortable and the bed felt like a cloud, the breakfast was perfect.
Thank you to the whole team. We will be back soon!Warm and Relaxing Stay at Spa Dar Sara – Asharaph from Spain – 30 June 2025 (9/10)
Felt just like home! The location is perfect—right in the heart of everything. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hammam and spa experience was very relaxing and professionally done. Dinner was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors. Breakfast could use a bit of improvement, but overall, a wonderful stay with great energy. Would definitely come back!

What could be improved: Breakfast was good but it was too bready – it would have been nice to have some vegetablesExceptional – Arvjen from Albania – 26 May 2025 (10/10)
We liked everything.
The riad is very pretty, consisting of 4 riads merged together which we found very interesting. And the room was very clean and had all the necessary amenities, including a safe.
The location was in a good neighborhood and the staff was very nice and helpful (they even provided us with to-go breakfast since we had a very early check out at 5.30 in the morning).
