Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of riads in Marrakech proper, but Kasbah d’if is something else entirely – it’s actually out in the Agafay desert, about 25 kilometers from the city center, which sounds far but honestly becomes part of the magic. The drive takes you through this rocky, lunar-like landscape that feels like you’re heading to another planet, and then suddenly there’s this stunning kasbah rising from the desert floor like something out of Lawrence of Arabia.

The thing about this place is that it manages to feel both incredibly luxurious and authentically Moroccan without that touristy theme-park vibe you get at some of the bigger hotels. The staff – and I mean this genuinely – seem to actually care about what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth (they brought us mint tea immediately, which, you know what, never gets old), and our room had this incredible view over the Agafay stone desert with the Atlas Mountains in the distance. The architecture is proper traditional Berber style, all those gorgeous earth tones and intricate tilework, but the amenities are thoroughly modern. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your time – it’s this infinity setup that seems to blend right into the desert horizon, especially at sunset when the whole landscape turns golden.

What really sets it apart though is the silence. I mean, coming from Marrakech’s medina where there’s constant noise – the scooters, the calls to prayer, the general beautiful chaos – this place is almost shockingly quiet. You can actually hear yourself think, which is either exactly what you need or slightly unsettling depending on your mood. The restaurant serves excellent Moroccan cuisine (the tagines are legit, not watered down for tourists), and they do these incredible desert dinners under the stars that feel special without being cheesy. Fair warning though – you’ll definitely want to rent a car or arrange transport because there’s literally nothing else around for miles. That’s sort of the point, but it means you can’t just pop out for a quick coffee or late-night snack. The hotel does arrange day trips back into Marrakech, which is actually nice because you get the best of both worlds – the desert tranquility and easy access to the souks and restaurants when you want them. Honestly, after three nights here, going back to the city felt overwhelming. It’s one of those places that recalibrates your sense of what luxury actually means – less about thread counts and more about space, silence, and those moments when you’re floating in the pool at dusk watching the mountains change color.

  Le lieu est magnifique, la Kasbah a toutes les commodités, la décoration est tendance, recherchée tout en respectant l'ambiance marocaine. Tout est très fin et de qualité. On se sent très rapidement à l'aise.
  Le petit-déjeuner est copieux et délicieux. Les repas le sont également.
  Le personnel est d'une gentillesse incroyable. La piscine avec vue sur le désert est incroyable. C'est calme et dépaysant. Un des meilleurs hôtels que j'ai testé

  Le lieu est tout simplement top, décoré avec énormément de goût. Le personnel est aux petits soins, toujours souriant et agréable. Mention spéciale à Nadia et Pierre, les propriétaires adorables qui ont su rendre notre séjour encore plus chaleureux. Les repas sont d’une grande qualité, et que dire du petit déjeuner… un vrai régal ! Nous reviendrons sans hésiter.

  Een enorm charmant verblijf. Rust en stijlvol ingericht. Enorm vriendelijk personeel en hele vriendelijke eigenaars. Ruime kamers, mooie restaurants. Wij komen zeker terug.

  Very nice setting of hotel in desert. The interior of the hotel is a high standard with nice aesthetic. The serving staff are very kind.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately and unknowing to us we were the only guests in the whole hotel due to it being newly opened. The isolated nature means that you are reliant on the hotel for all facilities. The hotel was unable to turn on ac in our room and in the communal areas of the hotel. This was a challenge in the extreme desert temperatures.

  Tout!!! C’était tout simplement parfait. Nous avons rarement eu un tel émerveillement esthétique! L’endroit était d’une beauté incroyable, la décoration digne d’un magazine, la cuisine délicieuse et le service excellent!
