I’ll be honest – I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Ksar Anika. The address says Route Makbara Des Juifs in the Mellah, which sounds pretty formal, but this is actually one of those hidden gems tucked away in Marrakech’s old Jewish quarter. You know how some places look better in photos? This is the opposite. The riad’s entrance is understated from the street (you might actually walk past it), but once you step inside, it’s like someone hit the pause button on the chaos outside.

The Mellah itself is fascinating if you’re into history – it’s got this quieter, more residential feel compared to the main medina madness. What I really appreciated about staying here was that you get the authentic Marrakech experience without feeling like you’re in a tourist fishbowl. The staff actually remembers your name after day one, which honestly doesn’t happen much at bigger hotels. The spa is legitimately good too, not just one of those hotel spas that looks pretty but delivers mediocre massages. I mean, with a 9.4 rating, you’d expect quality, but sometimes those numbers can be inflated – not here though. The hammam experience alone is worth booking for, and they use proper traditional techniques, not the watered-down tourist version.

Here’s what really sold me on the place: the rooftop terrace in the evenings. You get this incredible view of the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and the sunset light hitting the city is something else. They serve mint tea up there around 5 PM, and it becomes this impromptu gathering spot where you end up chatting with other guests about their day trips to Essaouira or wherever. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a proper boutique riad – tadelakt walls, beautiful tilework, those carved wooden details that take forever to make. Air conditioning actually works well (crucial in summer), and the beds are comfortable, though the traditional Moroccan furniture takes some getting used to if you’re not familiar with it. Parking can be a bit tricky in the Mellah – the hotel can arrange it, but just know it’s not right outside your door. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after dinner time, which is perfect for sleeping but might feel too mellow if you’re looking to stay out late exploring. Check-in was smooth, and they helped coordinate our day trips without the pushy sales pitch you sometimes get. Four stars feels right for this place – it’s polished and professional without being stuffy or overly formal.

  We really enjoyed our stay at Ksar Anika. The breakfast was delicious – fresh juice, warm pastries, and local touches that felt homemade. The location was great too – right in the Medina but surprisingly quiet. Best of all, our driver was able to drop us off right at the door, which made things super easy and hassle-free, especially with our luggage.
  
  What could be improved: Honestly, there’s nothing we didn’t like. Everything was just as we hoped – the room was cozy, the staff was kind, and the Wi-Fi was strong throughout the riad. We were satisfied with our stay and would definitely come back.

  We had the most wonderful time at Ksar Anika when we visited Marrakech. It really was perfect from the moment we arrived.
  
  The Riad is located in the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) about a 15 minute walk from the Central Square (Jemaa el-Fnaa) and it felt very safe to walk to and from there throughout the day and at night as a couple. It wasn't particularly noisy at night time, but noise mufflers for the windows were provided in the room (we didn't require them). The location was excellent – away from the noise and hustle/bustle, but so easily walkable to the centre.
  
  We entered the riad, and it was absolutely beautiful. We were greeted with some snacks and traditional Moroccan tea and given some recommendations about what to do and where to eat in Marrakech.
  
  The room itself was exceptional – beautiful to look at with incredible detail, spacious, cool (it was 39c outside) and topped up with water and snacks every day. There was also a small fridge/freezer which came in really handy.
  
  There was a delicious traditional Moroccan breakfast every morning as well as a mixture of sweet and savoury snacks throughout the day.
  
  Finally, but most importantly, is how wonderful the members of staff were. They were so welcoming and friendly throughout and really cared about us having the best experience. Always on hand to make recommendations without being pushy on particular restaurants or activities while also wanting to hear about our experiences to make recommendations for future guests.
  
  What could be improved: I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about Ksar Anika. Without a doubt we will be visiting Marrakech in the future and will be staying here.

  We had a wonderful stay. The riad is beautifully designed and our room was comfortable and clean. The staff were exceptional – warm, welcoming, accommodating and incredibly good at their jobs. Each day, fruit and biscuits were left in our room along with a big bottle of water. Breakfast was delicious and we were catered for as vegetarians. We had to catch an early flight so were given a light breakfast and even a packed lunch to keep us going. A lovely touch was the gift of toiletries to take with us. We would love to stay here again one day.

  Just fantastic accommodations in every way! The room was perfect. Each morning the breakfast was fantastic. We ate dinner there three times had a great meal every single time. Cannot say enough about the wait staff the front desk every single employee at this place was just an outstanding individual. They truly made our experience at Marrakesh perfect.
