La Brillante Marrakech Overview
You know what hit me first when I stepped into La Brillante? The complete silence. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa, but somehow this little riad on Rue Bahia feels like you’ve slipped into a pocket of calm that the rest of Marrakech forgot about. The entrance is so understated you might walk right past it – just a traditional wooden door with some beautiful tilework, no flashy signage screaming “hotel here!”
The thing about staying in Riad Zitoun Jdid is that you’re actually living like locals do, not just visiting. My room overlooked this tiny courtyard where you can hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques (honestly, it’s pretty magical at sunrise), and the whole place has this authentic worn-in feeling that a lot of the newer riads try to recreate but can’t quite nail. The staff here – they actually remember your name, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re navigating a new city. And speaking of navigation, you’ll definitely get lost trying to find this place the first time. The medina’s narrow alleys all look the same, but that’s part of the charm, right? Pro tip: the little spice shop on the corner with the bright blue door is your landmark.
What really sets La Brillante apart though is how they’ve managed to keep things intimate without skimping on comfort. The traditional Moroccan breakfast they serve on the rooftop terrace – I’m talking fresh msemen, local honey, and mint tea that’s actually brewed properly – gives you these incredible views over the medina’s rooftops. You can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, which happens more often than you’d think. The rooms themselves blend that classic riad architecture with modern touches that actually work (good water pressure, reliable WiFi, air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train). I stayed during Ramadan and the atmosphere was incredible – you could feel the energy shift as the sun set and the neighborhood came alive. The only downside? Well, if you’re looking for a pool scene or a bustling lobby bar, this isn’t your place. But honestly, that’s exactly why it works so well.

Pristine and beautiful oasis in the Medina – Claire from Spain – 28 June 2025 (10/10)
A very easy review to write…10/10 all the way. Every single member of staff were fantastic – from manager to housekeeping. Special mention to Senna and Hanna who made sure our room was maintained perfectly. Breakfast was delicious, the mocktails equally delicious. We will definitely return for more. Thank you!
What could be improved: Everything perfect!Exceptional – Hanoof from Saudi Arabia – 16 June 2025 (10/10)
The place is absolutely beautiful, clean, and modern, yet located in a charming historical area. The service and cleanliness were excellent, and the room was very spacious. Everything was lovely, and the staff were kind and helpful.
What could be improved: One minor downside is that the hotel entrance is about 20 meters from the main street where you park the car — but the staff kindly helped carry our luggage inside.
The only other suggestion I’d make is to add a bidet in the bathroom.
Overall, everything was excellent and exceeded expectations!Superb – Pamela from United Kingdom – 13 June 2025 (9/10)

Arriving at the hotel we were greeted by Mohammed and served traditional Moroccan tea and sweet cakes. The hotel had arranged our transfer from the airport and the taxi driver was in the waiting area immediately as we walked out of the airport and before the very busy section where every other taxi was, so we had been relieved he was easy to find. The hotel is in an excellent location, we found if you turn left out of the hotel and then right, you enter the perfect street to lead you down into the medina. We were close to restaurants to have dinner at night and felt safe walking in the immediate area. Mohammed was extremely helpful, one night he walked us to a restaurant around the corner, he arranged taxis for us and arranged a pool day at another hotel. The breakfast was pleasant and served fruit, yogurt, traditional Moroccan pancakes and eggs cooked to your liking. The room was very clean and the temperature was to our liking. We liked being in town and being able to walk straight into the medina from the hotel.
What could be improved: The only thing we found disappointing was the lovely loungers on the rooftop did not get any direct sun when we were there in February. Whilst this is not the hotels fault, it meant we couldn’t come back to the hotel and sunbathe in the afternoons. We did however sit on the sofas in the sun on the rooftop and the staff didn’t seem to mind. We booked a pool day pass at one of the larger out of town hotels to get our sun fix. We were also surprised to realise the hotel did not serve any alcohol, this did not bother us too much but might be a disappointment for others.
