You know what struck me first about La Familia? It’s actually tucked away on Route de Casablanca, which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is – you’re not dealing with the chaos of the medina, but you’re still close enough to feel connected to Marrakech’s energy. The whole place has this relaxed, family-run vibe that makes sense once you see how the staff interacts with guests. I mean, it’s a proper 4-star hotel, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it. The lobby smells like that perfect mix of traditional Moroccan mint tea and whatever cleaning product they use on the beautiful tiled floors – sounds weird, but it’s actually really welcoming.

What really gets me is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between authentic Moroccan style and modern comfort. The rooms have these gorgeous traditional touches (the metalwork is incredible, honestly) but the air conditioning actually works, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything. The pool area is where you’ll probably end up spending way more time than planned – it’s this perfect oasis where you can actually hear yourself think, which is saying something in Marrakech. I love that they’ve got enough lounge chairs that you’re not fighting for a spot, even during busier periods. And the view from the upper floors? You get these glimpses of the Atlas Mountains on clear days that make you stop whatever you’re doing and just stare.

The location is honestly genius if you think about it – you’re about a 10-minute taxi ride from Jemaa el-Fnaa (and drivers actually know how to find this place, which is a miracle), but when you come back at night, you’re not dealing with all the noise and commotion. There’s this little café about a 5-minute walk away that serves the best pastries I had in Morocco, and the hotel staff will point you toward spots like that if you ask. The 8.8 rating makes total sense when you add up all these little things – it’s not flashy or over-the-top, but everything just works the way it should. Check-in was smooth, the rooms were ready early, and when I had a minor issue with the room key, they sorted it out in about two minutes. I guess what I’m trying to say is that La Familia feels like what you hope a Marrakech hotel will be like – comfortable, authentic, well-located, and run by people who actually care about your experience without being overly fussy about it.

  The staff were all lovely. Meryam was always happy and at reception every day from 9.30am to 5.30pm to help with any queries that we had. She arranged taxis for us and any food that we wanted from their kitchen. The tagines were nice, and a large tajine would feed around 3 persons.
  
  The outside facilities such as pool and all outdoor facilities were immaculate. There were no restrictions for the children for pool times which realy made our holiday great.
  
  The common areas were cleaned twice daily by Halima and there was security guard Hassan on site every night and his son who was there to help during the day. There was also a handyman on site and the pool was cleaned every morning around 7am. Every single member of staff was welcoming and realy made our holiday.
  
  We had 5 apartments as it was a birthday celebration and there was never any restrictions on timings. We all had such a wonderful time at La Familia and I would recommend this lovely residence. La Familia is set half hour away from the Medina and in a secluded and rural area. There are no restaurants or shops close by. The nearest carrefour supermarket was 10mins drive away. However, we did not mind this as we wanted a quiet place away from the madness of Marrakesh, and as we had a car, it was easy for us to get our shopping, etc. For the group who did not have a car, the taxi took them to the supermarket 15mins away and waited whilst they shopped and brought them back for 20 euros, which I feel was a bargain. The taxis to get into town cost 20 euros for 6 people during the day which was 5 euros per person. You can get an app and order your taxi whilst in town and we paid 100 dhrms which was 10 euros for the journey back from the Medina to the apartments for 4 of us.
  
  If you are a light sleeper like me then I would suggest you take ear plugs as the cockadoodle doo starts during the night! Once I had my earplugs in, I didn't hear them.
  
  If you want luxury, then this is not the place for…
  
  What could be improved: For the price that we paid, there is nothing that I can complain about.

  Hôtel magnifique nous avons été traité comme des rois . Je me suis déplacer avec une enfant pmr, ils son fait en sorte que notre séjours de passe bien. Tout se que nous avons demander nous l avion reçue. L hôtesse maryam a été d une gentillesse irréprochable. L'établissement est propre , et la nourriture olala un vrai délice tout es préparée sur place. Niveau sécurité parfait.

  I appreciated the spacious layout, and the abundance of natural light. The large windows in every room created a bright and inviting atmosphere.
  Moreover, the customer service was outstanding, especially the warm welcome from the exceptional Meryem, who made the entire experience even more enjoyable.
