Le Farnatchi Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Le Farnatchi? I was expecting another gorgeous riad lost in the medina maze, but this place actually feels like someone’s sophisticated home that just happens to welcome guests. The location on Derb El Farnatchi puts you deep enough in the old city to feel properly immersed – you’ll hear the call to prayer echoing off ancient walls and catch whiffs of tagines drifting from nearby kitchens – but it’s tucked away from the main tourist arteries so you’re not dealing with constant hustlers and that relentless energy of the souks.
The staff here really gets it, honestly. They don’t just point you toward Jemaa el-Fnaa like most places do. Instead, they’ll tell you about the little bakery three alleys over where locals actually buy their bread, or mention that Thursday mornings are perfect for exploring because that’s when the neighborhood feels most authentic. I mean, finding the place initially is a bit of an adventure – GPS basically gives up once you’re in the medina, and you’ll definitely take a few wrong turns down those narrow passages. But that’s part of the charm, right? Plus, they’ll meet you at a landmark if you’re completely lost, which I appreciated after my taxi driver deposited me at what felt like a random corner.
The rooms themselves strike this perfect balance between traditional Moroccan design and actual comfort. You’ve got your gorgeous tadelakt walls and carved cedar details, but the beds are properly firm and the bathrooms work like they should. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to spend your evenings though – the views across the medina to the Atlas Mountains are pretty spectacular, especially around sunset when the whole city takes on this golden glow. It gets a bit chilly up there in winter months, but they provide blankets and the mint tea flows freely. What really sold me was how quiet everything becomes at night. Despite being in the heart of the medina, the thick walls keep most street noise out, so you can actually sleep. The air conditioning works well too, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings. Honestly, with a 9.4 rating, I went in with high expectations, and Le Farnatchi delivered on pretty much all of them. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Marrakech while still having somewhere genuinely comfortable to retreat to.

Reviews of Le Farnatchi
Quite exceptional place, stunning decor and such thought has gone into making this truly authentic – Christopher from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (10/10)
Delicious home made breakfast. Could be taken anywhere within the hotel, either in your room, on a balcony, downstairs in one of the courtyards or in our case we took it up on the fabulous roof top terrace overlooking the Medina and Atlas Mountains.

The nicest staff ever. We loved our rooms (had to move once) incredibly clean and comfortable and beautiful facility.
An unforgettable and beautiful Riad that you'll want to tell all your friends about. – Lucy from United Kingdom – 29 April 2025 (10/10)
Absolutely magical! Le Farnatchi is hands down one of the most beautiful and memorable places I’ve ever stayed. Tucked down a peaceful street in the heart of Marrakech, its location is perfect, serene and quiet, yet just moments from the hustle and bustle of the medina.
The Riad itself is a masterpiece. Every corner feels like a curated art museum, with elegant design, spacious rooms, and plenty of privacy. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the whole space has a calming, luxurious atmosphere.
What really sets Le Farnatchi apart is the service. The staff are exceptional, genuinely warm, attentive and thoughtful. The door men will walk you to a spot you have asked about to make sure you don't get lost. A special thank you to Sayeda, who worked so hard to get us into the restaurants we were keen on. You’re made to feel like royalty from the moment you arrive.
The food here is also outstanding. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had, delicious, beautifully presented, and full of local recipes and produce. I would also recommend using the spa and their own restaurant which has a peaceful rooftop option.
If you’re coming to Marrakech and want somewhere truly special, stay at Le Farnatchi. You can undoubtably find a cheaper Riad in Marrakech, but if this falls in your budget then you are guaranteed a truly unforgettable and relaxing holiday. I hope to return.
What could be improved: Literally nothing. I felt that I was constantly going around saying how perfect it was. I can't imagine think of a single thing I didn't like about this Riad.Brilliant stay. – Katharina from Norway – 26 April 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful Riad with very friendly staff. Great location. We appreciated the roof terrace with views over the entire city.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, our room had only a roof window, so no views. Breakfast was very basic.Magical and authentic – J from United Kingdom – 11 April 2025 (9/10)
Large suites, attentive staff, location
Exceptional – Maria from United Kingdom – 6 April 2025 (10/10)
When we arrived and were guided through the bustling alleyways through a heavy wooden door, it felt like walking into another world of peaceful tranquility with an incredible feeling of warmth and welcoming faces. The weight of the stressful journey was truly over, The attention to detail within these walls is quite mind blowing, my daughter and i were in awe of the beautiful architecture and authentic carvings and decor. we stayed in suite 1, which was truly incredible and i slept better than ive slept in years. All the staff are warm and friendly, there immediately when you need them, but never intrusive. As for the Spa, we had a few treatments which were amazing too, particularly the Hamman for2. I loved every minute of our trip and will be returning as soon as we can. Thank you 🙏

It was so authentic and better than I imagined. It was so busy outside but you could hear nothing inside . It was so cool in temperature inside.
What could be improved: We liked everything about the property.Flawless, perfectly located, gorgeous and quiet riad with the most wonderful staff. – Bbwilliams from United States – 31 March 2025 (10/10)
I was completely blown away by Le Farnatchi! I booked a last minute trip and came in early, arriving at 1030a or so. Had no expectation of being able to access my room (and offered to pay if it made a difference) but they were able to get me in right away, with a lovely mint tea service welcome. The room was PHENOMENAL – like, took my breath away – a massive living room, bedroom and gorgeous bathroom upstairs, and a private rooftop patio. Floored. Absolutely floored.
I felt completely safe at all times, in and outside the riad, but staff always offered to walk me to dinner or other locations to make sure that I didn't get lost. Super kind. I can't say enough good things about the staff who took care of everything I asked, including transport to and from the airport. Beyond these taxi trips, I spent my days walking because everything was easily walkable – museums, palaces, the square, many many souks, and all the many restaurants I visited. It felt like the perfect location because everything was so close by but it's just a couple turns away from the noise so the rooms and the courtyard are silent. Really just a perfect place. Will always come back here.Amazing stay with oustanding staff! – Jerome from Switzerland – 19 March 2025 (10/10)
