LE JASMIN DE MARRAKECH Overview
You know what struck me first about Le Jasmin de Marrakech? The drive there, honestly. It’s about 10 kilometers out on the Ourika route – and I mean, once you leave the chaos of Marrakech proper, the landscape just opens up in this incredible way. You’re suddenly in proper Moroccan countryside, with the Atlas Mountains doing their dramatic thing in the background. The hotel sits in Douar Aït Namous, which is basically a traditional Berber village that most tourists never see. When you pull up (parking’s no problem, by the way), you realize this isn’t just another riad trying to be authentic – it actually is.
The building itself feels like someone’s wealthy Moroccan uncle decided to open his family compound to guests. I’m talking about genuine architecture here, not the Instagram-friendly knockoffs you see closer to the medina. The jasmine they named the place after? It’s everywhere, and in the evenings the scent is almost overwhelming in the best possible way. The rooms are spacious – I mean really spacious, not “European spacious” – with proper Moroccan tilework that looks like it was done by craftsmen who’ve been doing this for generations. The staff are mostly local, which means they actually know the area and can tell you things like which days the village market happens or where to find the best tagine that isn’t marked up for tourists.
Here’s the thing though – and this is why that 9.1 rating makes sense – you’re getting a genuine Moroccan experience without roughing it. The beds are comfortable (I was worried about this, honestly), the bathrooms work properly, and there’s reliable WiFi if you need it. But you’re also 20 minutes from Marrakech when you want to hit the souks or see the Djemaa el-Fna. It’s like having the best of both worlds. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend your afternoons – it’s got these mountain views that change color throughout the day, and it’s quiet enough that you can actually hear birds instead of scooters honking. Fair warning though: if you’re the type who needs to be walking distance from bars and restaurants, this might feel too remote. But if you want to experience Morocco beyond the tourist trail while still having a proper comfortable base – well, I can’t think of many places that do it better. The whole experience feels more like staying with friends who happen to live in paradise than checking into a hotel.

Exceptional – Nour from France – 8 May 2025 (10/10)

We absolutely loved staying at the Jasmin de Marrakech. We were warmly welcomed by Fatiha, and she took great care of us during our stay. The house and rooms are incredibly clean as well as cozy. The food is wonderful and authentic; we had the best msemen here. The garden and pool are the perfect spot to relax and wind down. We’ve been to Marrakech a number of times, and this is the best place we’ve ever stayed at, will definitely book again here.
