Le Palais Averroes – Adults Only Overview
You know what struck me first about Le Palais Averroes? It’s that perfect sweet spot where you’re far enough from Marrakech’s chaos to actually hear yourself think, but close enough that you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. The drive out along the Ourika road takes about twenty minutes from the medina – honestly, I loved watching the city fade into olive groves and those gorgeous Atlas Mountain views. The hotel sits in this quiet pocket near Tassoultante, and I mean quiet. No scooters honking at 6 AM, no constant haggling from your balcony. Just the sound of birds and maybe some distant goat bells if you’re lucky.
The place itself feels like someone’s incredibly wealthy Moroccan uncle decided to open his private riad to a select few guests. Everything’s done in that classic Moroccan style – think intricate zellige tiles, carved cedar ceilings, and courtyards that make you want to just sit with mint tea for hours. But here’s the thing that really got me: they’ve nailed the details without going overboard. The rooms are spacious (finally, a place where you can actually open your suitcase without doing yoga poses), and the bathrooms have these deep soaking tubs that are perfect after a day of exploring. The staff genuinely knows your name by day two, which sounds small but makes such a difference. And since it’s adults-only, there’s this relaxed vibe throughout – people reading by the pool, quiet conversations over dinner, that sort of thing.
What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole “luxury resort” concept. Sure, there’s a spa and a gorgeous pool area, but it doesn’t feel like you’re trapped in some sterile bubble. The concierge actually knows the region – I mean really knows it. They pointed me toward this little pottery workshop in a nearby village that I never would’ve found otherwise, and suggested the best times to visit the Ourika Valley waterfalls (early morning, trust me on this). The restaurant leans heavily into local ingredients, and while dinner can get pricey, the tagines are honestly some of the best I had in Morocco. Breakfast is served until a civilized hour too, which matters when you’re on vacation. The only minor thing – and this is really minor – is that you’ll want to rent a car or arrange transport if you plan to explore much. Taxis don’t really cruise this area, but the hotel can sort that out easily enough. For what it is – a sophisticated escape that still feels authentically Moroccan – Le Palais Averroes delivers exactly what you’d hope for.

Reviews of Le Palais Averroes – Adults Only
Highly recommend! – Amy from United Kingdom – 11 June 2025 (10/10)
We absolutely loved our stay at le palais Averroes, a home from home, we were made to feel so welcome and looked after massively by the beautiful staff! Spa was fabulous, room had everything we needed and was cleaned every day, Moroccan breakfast was new to us but we loved it. Pool was clean and very refreshing in the heat. Hotel is only small so feels like your own place. This hotel is slightly out of the centre but we preferred that it was more quiet and chilled and despite hotel being slightly out of the centre we had no issues getting taxis and tours (via get your guide only 1 tour didnt allow pick up from the hotel but this was quickly resolved when we spoke to our tour guide prior to pick up.
We miss you already Hicham, Ikram and Hamza
Lots of love Amy and Martina

Lovely staff! Ikram was incredibly kind and helpful! The spa services were great and Fatima was very professional.
Riad for perfect restorative rest – Jenni from United Kingdom – 6 May 2025 (10/10)
Completely unique, modern and fresh yet traditionally Moroccan style – a very special place. Where to begin…the character, charm, fruit trees, incredible gardens, perfect swimming pool, options of where to eat, comfy places to read, a roof terrace…this riad has everything for the most restorative trip!
What could be improved: Nothing we did not like!Exceptional – David from Spain – 5 May 2025 (10/10)
the staff is very friendly and perfect
What could be improved: the hotel is far from the cityQuiet out-of-town gem – Mari from Finland – 29 April 2025 (8/10)
I really enjoyed the out-of-town location of this small hotel. Of course, we needed a taxi when we wanted to go to anywhere downtown but Soufian – our taxi driver for the whole week – never failed us. It was very quiet – but it was also Ramadan. (The rooftop restaurant, for example, was closed).
Lovely hotel – Bianka from Gibraltar – 27 April 2025 (8/10)
Over all a great stay! We would all like to thank Jawad specifically! Jawad was around the hotel from early morning to serve us breakfast to late at night to welcome us back to the hotel after our dinner in the centre. No matter how busy he was, he was extremely helpful in anything we needed and he was always doing so with a smile on his face!
What could be improved: Long waits for taxis as hotel is in the outskirt – definitely would recommend to arrange a taxi at least 1 hour before you plan to set off!An unforgettable stay at an oasis of calm and comfort – Brad from United Kingdom – 25 April 2025 (10/10)
This place is absolute perfection. From the moment we arrived we felt at home, thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and friendly. The location is around 15 minutes from the centre – so it is an ideal place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Taxis can be arranged via the staff for wherever you’d like to go.
The food was amazing, the breakfasts and lunches are so tasty. We didn’t eat for evening meal but we heard from other guests this was great too.
I am unsure the names of the staff unfortunately, but they were all great with us, in particular the gentleman who served us each day at breakfast – always a smile on his face and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all for an amazing stay!
What could be improved: The taxi drivers can be very shady – be careful of them. This was the most difficult part of our trip. They may try to overcharge you. They will also try to do multiple trips and charge multiple times – something which in the UK is frowned upon. Two cases we paid full price and saw the taxi driver charge French speakers less than us for the same trip. In the end we used indrive app to get around as the prices are fair and fixed. This is an issue with taxi drivers in marrakech, however we didn’t find the taxi drivers to be honest compared to the indrive drivers. Be careful and always ask for a fixed price before travelling.Magnifique 🙂 – Xenia from Switzerland – 22 April 2025 (10/10)
Great place, comfi rooms and beds, super helpful staff, small so it does not get crowded (only 8 rooms), delicious breakfast and food.
What could be improved: If you are planning any trips with travel agencies, this hotel is outside of pick up zone, we were asked the 2x to come to Cafe de France in Medina. Extra 20-30min, and money.
