Les Jardins De La Médina Overview

You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of riads in Marrakech, and Les Jardins De La Médina honestly surprised me. It’s tucked away on this narrow street called Derb Chtouka in the Kasbah – and I mean really tucked away. The first time I tried to find it, I walked past the entrance twice because it’s so unassuming from the outside. But that’s actually perfect, because once you’re inside, you realize you’ve found something special without the usual tourist crowds breathing down your neck.

The whole place feels like someone’s incredibly wealthy Moroccan uncle decided to open his private home to guests. There are these gorgeous courtyards with orange trees and the kind of tilework that makes you want to touch every surface (though you probably shouldn’t). What I love is that each room is different – mine had this massive wooden door that creaked in the most satisfying way, and the bathroom had a sunken tub that I definitely spent too much time in. The staff here actually remembers your name, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re trying to navigate a new city. They’ll arrange taxis without the usual hassle, and – this is key – they know which drivers won’t take you on a scenic route to jack up the fare.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re really in Marrakech without being in the middle of the Jemaa el-Fnaa chaos. You’re close enough to walk to the main square (maybe 10 minutes through the souks), but far enough that you can actually sleep at night without the drums and snake charmers. The Saadian Tombs are literally around the corner, and there’s this little café about three doors down where locals grab their morning coffee – no tourist prices, just good strong coffee and the occasional cat wandering around. I mean, you’ll still hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque, but it becomes part of the experience rather than an interruption. The pool area is where this place really shines though – it’s this peaceful oasis where you can recover from souk negotiations with a mint tea and actually hear yourself think. Just don’t expect to swim laps; it’s more about the ambiance than serious swimming.

  • A great gateway – Hugo from Hong Kong – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

Calm setting, with all services available and very kind staff.

What could be improved: Restaurant food is not very consistent, we had great meals and some were less so.

  • Gorgeous hotel with great Spa facilities – Andreea from United Kingdom – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

Les Jardins De La Médina is a gorgeous oasis in the busy town of Marrakech. With it's stunning palm trees, big pool and pool bar, it really is a sign for sore eyes. Our room was huge, it has a private balcony and a super king size bed. They come by your room twice a day – in the morning for clean-up and in the afternoon for some additional pampering. Breakfast is buffet style – a lot of options to pick from both cold and warm. Lunch and dinner options have good prices, great options depending on diet and preference. We did a couple's Hamam, I had a full deep-cleanse facial and my husband had a haircut and a professional shave – all of which were great!

What could be improved: The hotel leans more toward the old-school vibe. Their schedule for the restaurant is fixed and quite confusing: you can't eat whenever you want and also food options change dramatically between lunch and dinner. We ended up waiting until dinner to eat again after breakfast, which was not great. Breakfast is also underwhelming – I was expecting something a bit nicer given the price point and overall quality of the hotel. Drinks are very expensive at the bar and they seemed a little short staffed as it did take a really long time to get things delivered. You are also quite far out from the centre which is a plus and a minus – we enjoyed staying just on premise but you are then limited to their facilities the whole day!

  • Exceptional – Peter from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (10/10)

It was a sophisticated magical gem with refinement and perfection from the minute you step in to when you finally have to leave.

  • A relaxing and luxurious stay in the heart of the old town – Laura from United Kingdom – 7 June 2025 (10/10)

The hotel is a hidden oasis right inside the old walls of Marrakesh. Each room is different and beautifully designed. The hotel is calm and tranquil. The breakfast, lunch and dinner we ate at the hotel was amazing. We tried two treatments and a harman at the spa which was out of this world.

What could be improved: The service was a little slow.

  • Exceptional – David from United Kingdom – 28 May 2025 (10/10)

The location was about 20 minutes walk from the medina which was ideal as it was a quiet place to relax when not exploring. The breakfast was a very good buffet breakfast with omelettes made to order. The gardens and pool area were beautiful and quiet. The staff were fantastic, very helpful and pleasant. If I were to return to marrakech I would stay here again without a doubt.

Once we walked through the door it was like an oasis of calm. It was a beautiful hotel, lovely gardens, restaurant, food and fantastic pool area. The spa was amazing too! Room was great with lovely features and a roof terrace. Most of all we liked the people working at the hotel, so friendly, kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They were a very efficient team. I would 100% stay here again and recommend it.

What could be improved: It was all amazing!
