LUXURY apartment Overview
So I stayed at this place called LUXURY apartment in Hivernage, and honestly? The name made me roll my eyes a bit at first – you know how these rental places love their dramatic titles. But actually, it turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises where the property lives up to its ambitious name, which doesn’t happen nearly enough in Marrakech.
The location on Avenue Echouhada is pretty sweet if you know the area. Hivernage is where you want to be if you’re looking for that modern Marrakech vibe without completely abandoning the authentic feel – it’s sort of the bridge between the chaos of the medina and the sanitized resort strips. You’re walking distance to La Mamounia (even if you can’t afford to stay there, their bar is worth the splurge), and there’s this little café called Café des Épices nearby that locals actually go to, not just tourists. The palm-lined streets here feel more breathable than downtown, but you’re still close enough that a petit taxi to Jemaa el-Fnaa won’t cost you more than 20 dirhams.
What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night – I mean, this is Morocco, so there’s always some ambient city hum, but compared to staying inside the medina walls where scooters buzz past your window at 2 AM, this felt like a sanctuary. The apartment itself has that clean, minimalist thing going on that works really well in the heat. Good AC, which is non-negotiable in summer, and the kind of shower pressure that makes you wonder why so many riads can’t figure this basic thing out. The kitchen actually functions if you want to grab stuff from the Carrefour down the street – though honestly, with tagines this good everywhere, I’m not sure why you’d cook. Check-in was smooth, none of that “meet me at the corner and follow my cousin’s motorcycle” adventure you sometimes get with private rentals here.
I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the whole Hivernage area had this relaxed energy – busy enough that restaurants were open and lively, but not so packed that you felt like you were fighting for space. The morning light hits the Atlas Mountains just right from this part of the city, and there’s something about sipping mint tea on a quiet balcony with that view that makes you understand why people fall hard for Morocco. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually want to spend time in the room, not just crash between sightseeing marathons.
