The neighborhood has this French colonial charm that’s totally different from the medina chaos, and you’ll actually hear birds in the morning instead of just traffic (well, mostly). There’s a decent bakery two blocks down that locals hit up for morning pastries, and the taxi drivers know exactly where Rue Yougoslavie is, which saves you the whole “no, not that street, the other one” dance.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room – there are books on the shelves, decent kitchen equipment if you want to cook, and the wifi actually works throughout the space. I spent a few evenings on the balcony with mint tea, watching the neighborhood wind down, and it felt right. The building is solid, so you’re not hearing your neighbors’ entire lives through paper-thin walls, and the first-floor location means you’re not hauling luggage up three flights of narrow stairs when you arrive exhausted from travel.
