You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s actually tucked away in one of those residential complexes you’d never find unless you knew exactly where to look. The Résidence Jacaranda sits right on Boulevard Abdelkarim Al Khattabi – and honestly, when my taxi driver had to circle twice to find the entrance, I started wondering what I’d gotten myself into. But man, was I wrong to worry.

The whole setup is way more spacious than most hotel rooms you’ll get in Marrakech, especially in Gueliz. I mean, we’re talking about a proper apartment here with a kitchen that actually works (tested it with some groceries from the Carrefour down the street), a living area where you can spread out, and – here’s the kicker – access to this gorgeous swimming pool that feels like your own private oasis. The pool area gets the perfect morning sun, and by afternoon there’s just enough shade from the surrounding buildings to keep things comfortable. I spent way too many hours there with a book, listening to the distant hum of the city but feeling completely removed from it all.

What really sold me on this place was how it bridges that gap between being close to everything but not drowning in tourist chaos. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from the main Gueliz shopping district – I could easily stroll to Ensemble Artisanal or grab dinner at one of those sidewalk cafés on Avenue Mohammed V without dealing with the intensity of the medina. The neighborhood itself has this lived-in feel that I love – you’ll see families walking to the nearby park, hear the call to prayer from the mosque around the corner, catch the scent of tagines cooking in apartment windows. It’s real Marrakech life, not the sanitized version you get in some hotels.

The apartment itself feels like someone actually thought about how people live, not just sleep. There’s proper storage space, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes (crucial for me since I was working remotely), and the air conditioning works well enough that I could actually sleep during those brutal August nights. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no hovering concierge trying to upsell me on tours, just keys and helpful directions to the nearest ATM and pharmacy.

Look, it’s not perfect – the bathroom could use a refresh, and sometimes you can hear your neighbors through the walls – but there’s something refreshingly honest about staying here. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or doormen in fancy uniforms. You’re paying for space, location, and that pool, which honestly might be worth the price alone when it’s 40 degrees outside and the rest of Marrakech feels like a furnace. Plus, with an 8.8 rating, clearly I’m not the only one who figured out this gem.

  The location was great as we had two children and our mother is elderly. So we were walking distance from lovely shops and macdonalds. It was a nice area for our children and us, the people are so child friendly and helpful as they can be we will definitely be staying here again.
