Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Marrakech, and this apartment in Residence Nour honestly surprised me. You know how sometimes the photos look amazing but then you show up and it’s… well, not? This wasn’t one of those times. The location in Hivernage is actually perfect – you’re close enough to walk to the medina (maybe 15 minutes if you don’t mind the heat), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of scooters and late-night street vendors. The building itself sits on this quiet residential street, and I mean quiet – I could actually sleep with the windows open, which is saying something for Marrakech.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s really nice place than a typical hotel room. The kitchen is actually functional (I made coffee every morning without wanting to throw things), and the living area has these big windows that let in tons of light without making it feel like an oven. But honestly, the pool is what sold me on this place. It’s not huge, but it’s clean and surprisingly private – tucked away in this little courtyard area where you can float around without feeling like you’re on display. I spent most afternoons there with a book, and the water temperature was perfect even in late spring when the weather was getting properly hot. The poolside area has decent shade too, which matters more than you’d think when it’s 35 degrees and you still want to be outside.

What really impressed me was the attention to detail – the air conditioning actually works (and quietly!), the wifi is solid throughout the apartment, and there’s proper water pressure in the shower. I know that sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many places get these fundamentals wrong. The check-in was smooth too; the property manager met me right on time and walked me through everything without making it feel rushed. Parking was easy in the residence complex, which is huge if you’re renting a car – trying to park near the medina is basically impossible. The only minor thing is that the kitchen could use a few more cooking basics if you’re planning to make actual meals, but for coffee and light stuff it’s totally fine. If you want to be close to the action but still have a proper retreat to come back to, this place nails that balance. Plus, that 9.5 rating? Yeah, I get it now.
