You know what hits you first at Luxury Palm Villa? The silence. I mean, you’re technically still in Marrakech, but once you turn off Route de Ouarzazate into the Oliver palm resort complex, it’s like someone turned down the volume on the whole city. The villa sits tucked away in this surprisingly green pocket – honestly, I wasn’t expecting the gardens to be this lush given how dusty the drive in can be.

The place feels more like staying at someone’s really well-appointed house than a hotel, which I actually love. Villa 2B-4 has this sprawling layout where you can wander from the main living areas out to these covered terraces that look over the palm trees. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your time – it’s got that perfect temperature year-round, and there’s enough space that even when other guests are around, you’re not feeling crowded. What really got me was the attention to detail in the rooms. The bathroom has this massive walk-in shower with rainfall heads, and they’ve managed to get the water pressure just right (trust me, this isn’t always a given in Morocco). The bedding is that heavy, high-thread-count stuff that makes you want to sleep in way past checkout.

Location-wise, you’re about twenty minutes from the medina if you’re driving, though I’d recommend having the villa arrange transport rather than dealing with parking in the old city yourself. The Route de Ouarzazate puts you in a good spot for day trips too – Essaouira is totally doable as a day trip, and if you’re planning to hit the Atlas Mountains, you’re already pointed in the right direction. The staff here actually knows the area well, not just the tourist spots. They pointed me toward this little pottery workshop about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise. One thing to note – if you’re coming during peak season (spring and fall), book dinner reservations in the medina ahead of time. The villa’s kitchen can handle breakfast and light meals beautifully, but for those big tagine dinners, you’ll want to venture out. The 4-star rating might seem modest, but honestly, the experience feels more luxurious than some 5-star places I’ve stayed. Sometimes it’s the small things – like how they remember your coffee preference after the first morning, or the way they’ve positioned the lounge chairs to catch the afternoon sun just right.
