The Luxury XL Appart Golf View Retreat is tucked away in Prestigia Corail, which is one of those newer developments that’s sort of on the outskirts but still feels connected to Marrakech proper. I mean, you’re not walking to Jemaa el-Fna from here, but that’s actually kind of perfect if you want to escape the intensity of the medina without losing the Moroccan vibe entirely.

The apartment setup is what really makes this work – it’s got that lived-in feeling that regular hotel rooms just can’t match. The kitchen actually has everything you need (I’m talking proper knives, not those useless hotel butter knives), and the private garden is where you’ll probably end up spending most of your time. There’s something almost magical about having your morning coffee out there, especially when the light hits just right and you can see the Atlas Mountains in the distance. The golf course views are legit too, though I’ll be honest – watching people struggle with their short game gets old after a while. What doesn’t get old is how quiet it is compared to the city center. You’ll hear the call to prayer drifting over, but none of that constant scooter traffic that can drive you crazy in other parts of town.

The whole Prestigia area feels like Marrakech’s answer to a gated community, which has its pros and cons. Pro: you can actually walk around in the evening without dodging motorbikes. Con: it’s definitely more sterile than the authentic chaos most people come to Morocco for. But here’s the thing – sometimes you need that balance, especially if you’re staying for more than just a quick tourist blitz. The staff really seems to get this too; they’re not hovering like you’re in some fancy resort, but they’re incredibly helpful when you need them. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and they actually gave useful recommendations for both touristy stuff and local spots (there’s this little cafe about ten minutes away that does incredible pastries – way better than anything in the hotel area).

It’s not perfect – the WiFi can be spotty in the garden, and the hot water takes forever to kick in – but it hits that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity that’s surprisingly hard to find. Plus, if you’re traveling with family or planning to stay put for a few days, having actual space to spread out is worth its weight in gold. The location works especially well if you’re planning day trips to places like Essaouira or the mountains, since you can actually find parking and it’s easy to get to the main roads without navigating the medina’s maze.
