Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place – it’s one of those hidden gems that doesn’t look like much from the outside, but honestly? You’re getting way more than you’d expect for what you pay. The Magnifique sits right in the heart of Gueliz, which is basically Marrakech’s modern district, and I mean *right* in the thick of things on Rue du Capitaine Arrigui. You know that area where all the cafés spill onto the sidewalks and you can actually walk around without dodging motorbikes every five seconds? Yeah, that’s where you’ll be.

The room itself is… well, it’s exactly what it says – one room with solid WiFi that actually works (trust me, I tested it extensively). Nothing fancy, but everything you need is there and it’s clean, which honestly is half the battle in this city. The owner clearly put thought into the little details – decent lighting for those late-night travel planning sessions, and the bed is surprisingly comfortable. I mean, you’re not staying at La Mamounia here, but you’re also not paying La Mamounia prices, so there’s that trade-off. The WiFi really is reliable though, which is clutch if you’re trying to upload photos or video call home without wanting to throw your phone across the room.

What I really love about staying here is the location – you’re literally a five-minute walk from Avenue Mohammed V where all the good restaurants are, but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant street noise. Well, except for the call to prayer, but that’s everywhere in Marrakech anyway. The neighborhood has this great energy where you’ve got locals going about their daily business mixed with tourists who actually know what they’re doing (not the first-time visitors who end up lost in the medina). There’s a little café right around the corner that makes incredible mint tea, and the guys who run it will remember your order by day three. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’ve rented a car – the streets are narrow and it’s sort of a free-for-all situation, but there’s usually something within a block or two. Honestly, though, you probably won’t need a car much since everything walkable from here, and taxis are cheap when you want to head over to the medina or catch a sunset at the Koutoubia.

  What could be improved: Le jacuzzi n’a pas pu être utilisé car l’eau ne coule pas vite, on a pas pu le remplir parce que l’eau refroidi pratiquement instantanément. La pression de l’eau de la douche était très faible et le carreau du sol fendu… et c’est très mal isolé, on entends tout. Que ce soit dehors ou dans la résidence.
