Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Marrakech, and Dar Maria honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. It’s tucked away in this modern apartment complex called Les Terrasses de Bagatelle, right in the heart of Gueliz, which is basically the new city where locals actually live and work. You know what I mean? Not the touristy medina madness, but the real Marrakech where you can grab a decent coffee without getting hassled every five minutes.

The apartment itself is on the fourth floor (there’s an elevator, thank god), and when I first walked in, I was struck by how… well, how much it actually feels like a home rather than some sterile hotel room. The space is genuinely magnifique – yeah, the name fits – with these gorgeous traditional touches mixed with modern comfort. The owner clearly put thought into the details, from the handpicked textiles to the way the afternoon light filters through the windows. I mean, you’re getting authentic Moroccan style without sacrificing things like reliable wifi and a proper shower, which honestly can be hit or miss in this city. The kitchen is fully equipped too, which came in handy since I discovered this amazing little produce market just a ten-minute walk away on Avenue Mohammed V.

What really sold me on this place though is the location – you’re literally surrounded by some of the best restaurants and cafes in the city, but it’s quiet enough that you can actually sleep at night. The Carré Eden shopping center is right there if you need anything, and getting to the medina is a quick taxi ride or a pleasant 20-minute walk if you’re feeling adventurous. The building itself has this rooftop terrace where you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and honestly, those sunset views are worth the stay alone. Plus, the whole check-in process was smooth – no wandering around narrow alleyways trying to find some hidden riad entrance. The host was responsive and actually helpful, not just going through the motions. I’d definitely come back here, especially since the price point is so reasonable for what you get. It’s one of those places where the 9.2 rating actually makes sense when you experience it yourself.

  Sehr gute Lage (viele Restaurants und Geschäfte in der Nähe, gute Busverbindungen), die Wohnung ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Hassan ist immer erreichbar und sehr hilfsbereit.
