What really struck me was how quiet it is here, even though you’re only about ten minutes from the medina chaos. Route de Targa sits in this sweet spot where you get the residential feel of Gueliz without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. I mean, you can still hear the call to prayer echoing across the city in the morning, but you’re not dealing with the constant motorbike symphony that keeps you up in the old town. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel – there’s actual character in the furnishings and artwork, not just generic hotel art. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters if you want to grab fresh ingredients from the nearby markets (there’s a great little place for produce just a few minutes’ walk away that most tourists never find).

Getting around from here is actually pretty ideal – you’re close enough to walk to some excellent restaurants in Gueliz, but far enough from the main tourist strips that you feel like you’re experiencing a more authentic side of Marrakech. The taxi drivers know this area well, so you won’t have those awkward conversations trying to explain where you’re staying. I particularly loved the evenings here; once the sun sets, you can sit on the terrace and watch the city lights come alive while the Atlas Mountains fade into silhouettes. It’s one of those moments that makes you remember why you travel in the first place. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the hot water takes a minute to kick in – typical for Morocco, really – but once it does, the pressure is solid. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and the host clearly knows what they’re doing. If you’re looking for that perfect balance between luxury and authenticity, without paying resort prices or dealing with resort crowds, this place nails it.
