You know what surprised me about this place? It’s actually tucked away on Boulevard Allal Al Fassi, which — if you’re not familiar with Marrakech — is one of those streets that feels properly Moroccan without being touristy. I mean, you’re still close enough to the medina action, but you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of scooters and tour groups right outside your window.

The apartment itself is honestly better than I expected from the photos. It’s on the first floor (which is actually the second floor if you’re American — took me a minute to figure that out), and the moment you walk in, there’s this sense of space that you just don’t get in most Marrakech accommodations. The owner clearly put thought into the details — proper blackout curtains that actually work, a kitchen with decent counter space, and honestly, the best shower pressure I’ve had in Morocco. The living area has this great natural light in the mornings, and I found myself having coffee there every day watching the neighborhood wake up. You’ll hear the call to prayer, obviously, but it’s not overwhelming like it can be in the old city.

What really sold me on this place was how it felt like staying in someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental. There are these little touches — local artwork, proper hangers in the closet, a decent-sized fridge — that make you realize the owner actually uses this space. The 9.4 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not flashy, but everything just works. The neighborhood has a great little bakery about a five-minute walk away (ask the owner, they’ll point you in the right direction), and there’s decent parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Marrakech. I wasn’t, but my taxi drivers never had trouble finding it. The building itself is quiet — I stayed during Ramadan when things can get pretty lively at night, and I still slept well. Only minor thing is the WiFi can be spotty in the bedroom, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise.
