Maïpa Boutique Riad Overview
You know what hit me first about Maïpa Boutique Riad? The silence. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of the medina – you can hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques and the distant hum of scooters on the main drags – but the moment you step through that heavy wooden door on Derb Jdid, it’s like someone hit the mute button. The whole place revolves around this gorgeous central courtyard with a plunge pool that’s honestly perfect for Marrakech’s heat, especially during those brutal afternoon hours when even the locals retreat indoors.
The staff here actually knows the neighborhood, which sounds basic but trust me, it’s not always the case. They’ll tell you to avoid the main tourist route to Jemaa el-Fnaa and instead take the smaller alley that cuts through near the old hammam – saves you about ten minutes and half the hassle from aggressive vendors. The rooms themselves have this perfect balance of traditional Moroccan design without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum. Real tadelakt walls (not the fake stuff you see in some places), beautiful zellij tilework, but also proper air conditioning that actually works and water pressure that doesn’t make you want to cry. I stayed in one of the suites on the upper level and you get these incredible glimpses of the Atlas Mountains if you crane your neck just right from the small window.
What really sets this place apart though is how they handle the little things. Check-in was seamless – no standing around in a lobby that doubles as a tourist trap gift shop. The mint tea they serve isn’t the overly sweet tourist version, and honestly, their breakfast spread puts most hotels to shame. Fresh msemen, local honey, proper French pastries, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since dawn. The location on Derb Dabbachi means you’re in the heart of the medina but on one of the quieter derbs, so you won’t have donkeys clip-clopping past your window at 6 AM (learned that lesson the hard way at another riad). It’s about a seven-minute walk to the main square, maybe ten if you get turned around in the maze of alleys, which honestly happens to everyone. The 9.7 rating isn’t just inflated booking site nonsense – this place genuinely gets the details right in a way that makes you want to extend your stay instead of just checking days off until you can leave.

Reviews of Maïpa Boutique Riad
I would highly recommend Marrakech for a weekend visit, an experience we will never forget, and no better place to stay – Stuart from United Kingdom – 1 July 2025 (10/10)
It was a little oasis, despite being in the middle of the hustle and bustle ouside, once you step through the door you enter a calming peaceful place. The breakfast is amazing by the way, and sets you up perfectly for a busy day sightseeing. Highly recommended *****
What could be improved: The was nothing that we didn’t like, the property has everything you need to unwind after a busy day visiting the sites and getting lost in the Souks 😁Exceptional – Amanda from Australia – 1 July 2025 (10/10)

We had a fantastic stay in Road Maipa. Emanuele & Liliya are fantastic hosts, and will look fteafterr you very well, and provide great advice and recommendations. They are fantastic hosts and the staff is very friendly. The Riad itself is very well decorated , with great attention to details.and in an amazing location in the heart of the Medina. A peaceful heaven!
What could be improved: The pool is a bit on the small side, but still provided good opportunities to cool down.Exceptional – Sarah from United Kingdom – 23 June 2025 (10/10)
The Liliya and Emmanuele bring a very personal touch to hosting in this beautiful Riad. They have put so much thought into the renovation of the Riad and the experience for their guests. Every little touch was perfect down to purified water in the room, avoiding plastic bottles! The breakfast was excellent, as was the booked evening menu, which I would recommend arranging for one night. The staff were delightful and attentive! This is an oasis in the centre of the Medina that you shouldn't miss.
What could be improved: I cannot find anything I didn't like. After big days of doing the tourist things and of course shopping it was so relaxing to come back and sit on the roof to – Annette from Australia – 17 June 2025 (10/10)
The location was perfect, you would never know that just outside is the hustle and bustle of the markets. The beautiful couple who own this property are so helpful and kind.
What could be improved: That we didn’t make reservations for an in-house dinner. The breakfast was fresh and a great variety of food. Personal service, we felt like royalty.Definitely worthwhile! – Newatia from Ireland – 5 June 2025 (9/10)
The host (Liliya) and staff (Brahim) at the property were really helpful and courteous. They go out of their way to make your stay at the riad as well as your visit to Marrakesh pleasant and beautiful.
Their recommendations like where to eat out, which hammam spa to go and which all café’s to visit were really on point.
Liliya (host) really helped us a lot and would definitely recommend the place!
Thanks Riad Maipa for making our first time in Marrakesh memorable!Great stay and warm and welcoming staff. Peaceful stay in the heart of the medina. – Yashodhan from United States – 2 June 2025 (10/10)
Attention to detail, personal touches, authentic, welcoming, attentive and caring staff. We felt at home.
Like in a tale from the Thousand and One Nights – Christiane from France – 17 May 2025 (10/10)
My daughter and me just spent 5 wonderful nights at the Riad Maïpa and absolutely loved it!
The big room looked very authentic and was well-decorated and spotless clean. Our hosts, Liliya and Emanuele, an Italien couple, were very kind and warm and helpfull all the time. For example they organised the pick-up from the airport, a private tour guide for the first day, some restaurant reservation and more.
You should definitely not miss at least one dinner at Maïpa. We enjoyed it on the arrival day- it was splendid and generous and set high standards for later dinners in the Medina.
The location of the Riad is perfect; indeed only 5 minutes to walk to the buzzling big place Jemaa el Fna. Although the markets are all around it was absolutely safe all the time also for two women!
There would be much more to mention like the wonderful terrace at a roof-top, the overwhelming breakfast every morning or the very nice team (Brahim, Youness, Fatima and one other young woman) – everything deserved a « 10 out of 10».
We felt at home and do hope to return some time.Excellent Riad in the heart of the Medina – Rolf from Germany – 12 May 2025 (10/10)
Great Host and personnel, quite place in the middle of the Medina, fancy rooms, excellent breakfast and dinner. Great help with organizing tours
What could be improved: nothingLovely traditional riad with incredible staff – Nick from United Kingdom – 11 May 2025 (10/10)
Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and very knowledgable about the local area with some great recommendations.
The riad was very clean and beautifully decorated.
Large traditional breakfast well presented every morning, you won't leave hungry.
Evening meal service available with 48 hours notice to source fresh produce & marinate was also very good.
Good location a 5 minute walk from the main square when it's quiet, however may take 10-15 minutes during busy times as the street outside can be very slow moving. Once in the riad however it is very peaceful and hard to imagine it's so busy outside.
