The Palmeraie district is where locals go to escape the tourist crowds, and you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place special.

The riad itself sits tucked away in pavilion I1, which I’ll admit took me a minute to find (pro tip: screenshot the exact address because your taxi driver might need it). But once you’re inside, it’s like stepping into someone’s beautifully curated home rather than a hotel. The design strikes that perfect balance between traditional Moroccan architecture and modern comfort — think hand-painted tiles that actually look authentic, not the mass-produced stuff you see everywhere else. The courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that creates just enough ambient sound to drown out any street noise, though honestly, this area is pretty quiet anyway, especially compared to staying near Jemaa el-Fnaa.

What really sets Maison Maria apart, though, is the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The staff — and I mean this genuinely — seem to actually care about making sure you’re comfortable. They’ll help you arrange everything from airport transfers to day trips to the Atlas Mountains, but they do it in this low-key way that never feels pushy. The rooms are spacious by Moroccan standards, with AC that actually works (crucial during those sweltering summer months), and the beds are legitimately comfortable. I’ve stayed in some riads where you feel like you’re sleeping on a medieval torture device, but not here.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience both sides of Marrakech. You’re about a 15-minute taxi ride from the medina when you want to dive into the souks and street food scene, but you can also walk to some excellent local restaurants that most tourists never discover. There’s this little café about five minutes away where they make the best mint tea I’ve had in Morocco — the owner will probably remember you after your second visit. And if you’re into golf, several courses are practically next door, though I spent most of my time just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the stunning views of the palm groves.

The pool area deserves a mention too — it’s not huge, but it’s perfectly maintained and surrounded by enough greenery to feel private. I spent most afternoons there with a book, and honestly, it felt like having a personal oasis. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you experience how everything just works seamlessly here. Small touches like fresh flowers in the rooms, locally sourced breakfast ingredients, and genuinely helpful concierge service add up to something special. • Fantastisch verblijf, een warm en veilig paradijs in Marrakech! – Soukaina from Belgium – 8 July 2025 (10/10)

  Wat een ongelooflijk fijne ervaring hebben wij hier gehad! Ik verbleef samen met een groep meisjes in een afgesloten park met charmante huisjes, en vanaf het eerste moment voelden we ons volledig op ons gemak. De sfeer was sereen, veilig en zeer familiaal, echt een oase van rust en comfort.
  
  Bij aankomst werden we hartelijk ontvangen door Hafsa, een ongelooflijk lieve en zorgzame vrouw die dagelijks langskwam om alles kraaknet te houden. Ze verwelkomde ons met traditionele muntthee en versgebakken pannenkoeken, zo’n warme, oprechte ontvangst maak je zelden mee. Elke dag zorgde ze ervoor dat alles tot in de puntjes proper was, en haar aanwezigheid gaf ons echt een thuisgevoel.
  
  De accommodatie zelf was prachtig verzorgd: alles straalde netheid, stijl en rust uit. Het was duidelijk dat er met veel liefde en aandacht aan elk detail is gedacht. Het zwembad was een zalige plek om te ontspannen en genieten van de zon, perfect onderhouden en rustig gelegen.
  
  Wat dit verblijf zo bijzonder maakte, is hoe het mijn blik op Marokko heeft veranderd. Als iemand met Marokkaanse roots die regelmatig naar Marokko reist, heb ik zelden zo’n unieke, positieve ervaring gehad. Het voelde alsof ik mijn eigen land voor het eerst op een nieuwe, verfrissende manier leerde kennen, gastvrij, luxueus en ontzettend ontspannen.
  
  Ook de communicatie met de eigenares verliep vlekkeloos. Ze was altijd bereikbaar, vriendelijk en meedenkend. Alles verliep professioneel maar tegelijk heel warm en persoonlijk.
  
  Ik kijk er nu al naar uit om met mijn familie terug te komen. Dit verblijf heeft voor ons de lat heel hoog gelegd – we hebben genoten van elke seconde!
  
  Een absolute aanrader voor wie op zoek is naar rust, comfort, veiligheid én een authentieke, warme Marokkaanse ervaring.

  La maison est un bijoux tout est fait avec goût. Nous avons bien profité du beau jardin. Nous reviendrons très bientôt .

  An absolutely amazing apartment and host! Great big padio wich we really enjoyd. Our host answared all questions within 5 min. The apartment is so much more beautiful then the pic's show, and it is spotles clean. We absolutely loved our stay there. The maid that comes with the apartment works from 9-14. And you can order reall Morroccan food from here witch was really good att a very fair price. We highly recommend this apartment !

  Le logement est propre et grand avec une belle terrasse et tout ce qu'il faut comme équipement pour se sentir confortablement installé. Il y a un carrefour market à proximité. La décoration est soignée et le personnel est à l'écoute et toujours disponible. Merci.
  
  What could be improved: Les espaces extérieurs dont les plantes sont magnifiques, la piscine est également top avec ses 2 Bassins. En revanche un petit moins pour les transats de piscine qui sont pour bon nombre cassés et le service de restauration qui n'est plus ouvert.

  Maison Maria is absolutely beautiful! The host, Sophia, was always available and provided me with a ton of resources, including a driver who was always available, a maid and chef who made delicious food and several suggestions on places to visit and where to exchange money. The location is about a 10-15 minute drive from the center of the city which was a huge plus because we were able to escape the busy, noisy areas and have a nice peaceful escape from our daily excursions. I had a lovely stay and would certainly recommend staying here.

  Appartement en de tuin. Er was een hele lieve vrouw Haffsa die voor ons kookte.
  Wat ook fijn was dat de eigenaar Sophia altijd snel reageerde op de vragen.
  
  What could be improved: Geen water in de kinderen baden. Geen winkeltje waar je kleine boodschappen kon doen. Ook geen restaurantje.

  L'appartement est magnifique , tr3s belle décoration, dans un environnement calme et apaisant.
  
  What could be improved: Beaucoup trop de trou sur la route , dans le complexe je sais bien que cest pour rouler au pas mais la c'est trop, pas agreable pour les amortisseurs de la voiture .
