Migdal Gueliz Apart Hôtel Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Migdal Gueliz Apart Hôtel on Rue Ibn Sina, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The Gueliz district isn’t exactly the Morocco you see on postcards (that’s the medina), but you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I loved this place. You’re in the modern part of Marrakech where actual locals live and work, which means real cafés, proper grocery stores, and – thank god – reliable wifi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes.
The apart-hotel concept really works here, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights. I mean, having a kitchenette changes everything when you want to grab fresh produce from the market and actually cook something instead of eating tagine for the fifteenth time (not that there’s anything wrong with tagine, but still). The rooms are spacious – and I’m talking genuinely spacious, not that “European spacious” where you can barely open your suitcase. The staff actually remembers your name after day one, which is refreshing after staying at those massive resort chains where you’re just another room number. What surprised me most was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re in the city center. The building’s set back from the main drag just enough that you’re not dealing with scooters honking at 2 AM, but close enough that you can walk to Avenue Mohammed V in about eight minutes.
Here’s the thing about this location that most people don’t realize until they’re here – you’re perfectly positioned between both worlds. The train station’s a quick taxi ride away (seriously, like 5 minutes), the medina’s totally walkable if you’re feeling adventurous, but you can also just hang out in Gueliz and experience a completely different side of Marrakech. There’s this little café around the corner that serves the best coffee I had in the entire city, and the locals there were genuinely curious about where I was from rather than trying to sell me something. The hotel itself has that sweet spot rating of 8.8 for good reason – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really, really good at what it does. Clean, comfortable, well-managed, and the kind of place where you actually want to hang out in your room instead of just crash there. Plus, and this might sound silly, but the shower pressure is fantastic. After a day of walking around dusty streets and navigating the controlled chaos of Marrakech, that matters more than you’d think.

What could be improved: It's only a recommendation. More prominent lit signage of the hotel during dark hours will make it easier to find.REALLY awesome place!!!!! Felt like I struck gold. – S from United Kingdom – 14 March 2025 (10/10)
I absolutely loved the apartment, how cosy yet spacious it was. The sofas, the flooring, the AC, the beds, the kitchen was all wonderful! We could really feel like home away from home and we loved every bit of it! The washing machine, fridge, kettle and hobs were exactly the ones we had at home which was funny to see and also comforting because again, it was just like being at home.
The staff were so polite and so very helpful and fun to talk to! They were meticulous and so helpful even when we had gone during Ramadan (limited access to alcohol, shops, supermarkets) they helped us navigate and also helped make sure we didn't get ripped off with massive tourist-hiked prices from taxis.
Zohair was FANTASTIC at reception. I don't think we would have had as much fun and security in all that we did from food recommendations to hammam and market recommendations – he was amazing in helping from the moment we stepped foot in there until we reached England – I could ask him anything whether day or night and he was quick to help/advise. It was also very convenient to reach all the main attractions and get picked up for tours. It was VERY quiet and away from the main street noises also – ALSO had blackout blinds!! And a fantastic view of Marrakech from the large bay windows in the bedrooms (that opened fully)
We really could not recommend this place enough. All of us are already planning our return trip later this year to stay in the same place again as long as he is there!
