The location is sort of genius when you think about it – far enough from the tourist madness that you feel like you’re living in Morocco rather than just visiting it, but close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you to Jemaa el-Fnaa or the Majorelle Gardens without drama. There’s this little café about a five-minute walk away where locals grab their morning pastries, and the owner will practice his English with you over mint tea if you’re up for it. The villa provides breakfast on this gorgeous terrace overlooking the residence gardens, and honestly, starting your day with fresh orange juice and Moroccan pancakes while planning your route through the souks – that’s the kind of travel moment that sticks with you.

I won’t lie and say everything’s perfect – the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours, and if you’re the type who needs to be within walking distance of restaurants, you’ll want to factor in taxi costs. But for the price point and the genuine hospitality, plus that rare combination of modern comfort and authentic location, Modern Villa Assia delivers something most Marrakech hotels don’t even attempt.
