Monriad Overview
You know what honestly surprised me about Monriad? It’s tucked away on this tiny street called Derb Lahbasse that you’d walk right past if you didn’t know what you were looking for. I mean, the address mentions “Parking de la Prefecture” which sounds official and intimidating, but actually it’s this perfect little landmark that makes finding the place way easier than most riads in the medina. The taxi dropped me off at the parking area and I was literally two minutes from the front door – which, if you’ve ever tried to navigate the maze of Riad Zitoun with luggage, you’ll appreciate how rare that is.
The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you. The courtyard has these gorgeous traditional tiles (I’m terrible with the proper names, but they’re the intricate geometric ones that Morocco does so well) and the sound of the fountain just sort of washes away all the chaos from the souks outside. What I loved most was how they’ve kept the authentic riad feel without making you feel like you’re camping – the rooms have proper air conditioning, which honestly becomes non-negotiable during those scorching Marrakech afternoons. The staff, and I can’t stress this enough, actually seem to care about what you’re up to. They’ll draw you little maps, suggest restaurants that aren’t tourist traps, and somehow always remember your name. The rooftop terrace is where I ended up spending most evenings – you get these incredible views over the medina, and when the call to prayer echoes across the city at sunset, it’s pretty magical.
Here’s the thing about staying in the medina though – mornings start early whether you want them to or not. The neighborhood comes alive around 6 AM with vendors setting up and kids heading to school, but somehow the thick walls of Monriad keep most of the noise out. I actually found it charming after the first day, like you’re part of the rhythm of the old city but still have your peaceful retreat. The location is brilliant for exploring – you’re maybe a ten-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa square (though good luck walking in a straight line through those winding alleys), and some of the best traditional restaurants are practically on your doorstep. The breakfast spread is solid too, with fresh bread, local honey, and mint tea that’s strong enough to wake the dead. Look, it’s not the biggest riad, and if you’re expecting resort-style amenities, you might be disappointed. But if you want to experience Marrakech the way it’s meant to be experienced – with that perfect balance of authentic local flavor and genuine comfort – this place absolutely delivers. The 9.1 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; it’s earned through those little touches that make you want to come back.

Reviews of Monriad
I’m glad i picked this riad and would pick it again. – M'kenzie from United States – 21 June 2025 (10/10)
The staff is so helpful and nice. Facilities are good and the location is superb! Can walk to a lot of locations and even the taxis aren’t long drives. They will set up airport transfers for you as well.
What could be improved: Our shower didn’t drain the best but it was cleaned spotless everyday. The A/C is okay at best, but anything beats the outdoor moroccan heat.Very good – Al from Australia – 10 June 2025 (8/10)
The location. Easy to find, central to the square.
What could be improved: Very noisy. It felt a bit like an airport transit hotel. People checking out at 4am. A lot of noise at this riad from the staff very late. I like the riad but honestly did not have the greatest sleep either night.Would 💯 recommend – great location, lovely helpful staff, lovely breakfast & dinner – Karen from Ireland – 9 May 2025 (9/10)
Staff & ambience are top class

This was the perfect choice for me as a first time solo traveller. A taxi from the airport was arranged for me & I enjoyed a wonderful evening meal on my first night. Breakfasts were amazing & all the staff throughout were super friendly, helpful & made me feel very welcome. Great location too.
What could be improved: There is nothing I can think of that needs improvement.Beautiful – a true gem!! – Katharina from Austria – 9 April 2025 (10/10)
the rooms are amazing, the staff is helpful and goes out of their way to make sure everyone is comfortable. good breakfast in the beautiful courtyard.
We felt very safe and the rooftop terrace is quiet and relaxing in contrast to the busy streets.

Amazing – Sterre from Netherlands – 1 April 2025 (10/10)
We had an amazing stay at monriad. The riad is in a cul de sac, so very quiet. But as soon as you leave the alley your in the middle of the small and busy streets, with lots of shops. Only a few minutes to the big square on foot. The riad ikzelf was great, a small room but it had everything you would need. Breakfast was included, which was amazing it was marrocan but accessible for everyone. You got served a couple of fresh things per person. The staff of the riad was very kind and always ready to give some advise of help with whatever we needed.
Very good – Anniken from Norway – 24 March 2025 (8/10)
Nice and clean. Friendly staff!
What could be improved: No windows outwards.Cozy riad in the chaos of the Medina – Liina from Sweden – 14 March 2025 (8/10)
The coziest riad we stayed in Marrakech, but the room felt a little small. The staff was friendly and helpful. They also had a very good restaurant and supplied us with vegan breakfast (but make sure to notify them in advance).
