Musée YSL : Cozy, Familial, Chic Overview

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name makes it sound like it’s actually connected to the Yves Saint Laurent museum, but it’s not – it’s just positioned strategically on Rue Moslem near the Complexe Atlassi, which honestly works in its favor. I mean, you’re close enough to walk to the real YSL museum in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your door.

The “cozy, familial, chic” part of the name actually nails it pretty well. It’s one of those riad-style places that feels like someone’s stylish aunt decided to open a boutique hotel. The staff genuinely remembers your name after day one, and there’s this nice balance where it feels intimate without being intrusive. The rooms have that modern Moroccan thing going on – you know, traditional tiles and carved details but with proper lighting and outlets where you actually need them. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re not far from the medina action. The courtyard design really works here; it creates this peaceful bubble where you can actually hear yourself think.

What really sold me was the location intelligence. You’re positioned where locals actually live and work, not just in the tourist fishbowl. There’s a fantastic little café around the corner that none of the guidebooks mention, and the taxis know exactly where to find you without the usual back-and-forth directions. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you factor in all these small details – like how they handle the morning call to prayer (rooms are oriented so it’s present but not overwhelming), or how they’ve figured out the hot water situation that plagues so many places in this price range. Parking is surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Marrakech will appreciate. It’s not luxury in the flashy sense, but it’s thoughtful in ways that matter more when you’re actually trying to sleep, shower, and get around the city.

Reviews of Musée YSL : Cozy, Familial, Chic

  • Fine to stay but not a wow place to expect. – Karda from United States – 26 March 2025 (6/10)

Good space, close to grocery shops.

What could be improved: Not clean as in the picture, bad lift, not comfortable bathroom, poor AC functioning.

  • Exceptional – Selma from Sweden – 7 March 2025 (10/10)

Lovely spacious apartment, great location. The host was so very helpful too– even contacted us after we checked out to let us know that my friend had left her loops in the apartment

What could be improved: The airco didn't work so it was quite cold, but the host did offer to bring in a technician. Since it was only for 2 nights, we decided to make do with the blankets, of which plenty were available

  • Exceptional – David from Portugal – 15 February 2025 (10/10)

    Good location and very spacious!

What could be improved: Everything ok.

  • Superb – Aga from Poland – 12 February 2025 (9/10)

  • Exceptional – Heleen from United Kingdom – 3 February 2025 (10/10)

    -Great location
    -Host, super friendly and helpful
    -easy to find
-Great check in system with key lock
    -Clean
    -Spacious
    -Very comfortable
-Has everything we needed like kitchen supplies, towels, blankets among other things
    -Comfortable beds
-One thing that stood out was that there was toiletpaper, teabags, soap, and a few other things that meant we didn't immediately had to go on the hunt for stuff like that and could settle in nicely before going into the business of Marrakesh

Overall had a lovely time there and would recommend and come back.

What could be improved: The bedrooms are next to each other with a high window at the top with the glass missing. As 2 couples visiting we did experience a little lack in privacy because of that.
