It’s tucked into Residence Le Palace B on Avenue Hassan II, which is honestly one of the better spots in Gueliz if you want to feel like you’re in modern Marrakech without being completely cut off from the real city.

The thing about Gueliz is that it’s where actual Moroccans live and work – not just the tourist bubble of the medina. You’ll hear French almost as much as Arabic here, there’s a Carrefour down the street for when you need normal stuff like toothpaste or water bottles, and the cafés serve proper espresso instead of that sweet mint tea (though I mean, I love mint tea too). The hotel itself sits in this residential building that looks pretty ordinary from the outside, but once you’re inside, you get why they went with “colorful” in the name. The decor is this interesting mix of contemporary Moroccan design with these bold, almost playful touches – think rich jewel tones mixed with clean lines. It’s not trying too hard to be a riad, which I actually appreciated.

What really got me was how quiet it stays at night. Avenue Hassan II can get busy during the day with traffic heading toward the train station, but the apartment-style setup means you’re not dealing with hotel hallway noise or people slamming doors at 2 AM. The rooms feel more like staying in a really well-designed friend’s place than a hotel – there’s actual kitchen space, decent lighting for reading, and honestly, the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with pillows all night. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting legitimate luxury touches (the bathroom fixtures are really nice, and someone clearly thought about water pressure) without paying medina boutique hotel prices.

You know what I really liked? The staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the Majorelle Gardens, they didn’t just point me toward an expensive taxi – they explained the local bus route and mentioned which café nearby has the best pastries for breakfast. That kind of local knowledge is gold when you’re trying to experience a place beyond just checking off tourist boxes. The location puts you about a 15-minute walk from the medina’s main entrance, but also close enough to the ville nouvelle that you can grab dinner at one of those excellent French-Moroccan fusion places without needing to navigate the souks every single time you want to eat. If you’re looking for something that feels authentic to how Marrakech actually works as a city – not just as a tourist destination – this spot delivers without making you sacrifice comfort or style.

  De locatie was perfect. Ik wandelde bijna elke dag naar de medina, die op maximaal 30 minuten loopafstand ligt. Je bent ook heel dicht bij het vliegveld en de Menara Garden. De wijk Gueliz is springlevend, wat mijn verblijf nog aangenamer maakte.
  
  Op de eerste dag gaf de host me een mini-tour door de wijk en ging zelfs mee naar de supermarkt. Dat vond ik echt fantastisch. Je hebt echt al je benodigdheden in de buurt!
  
  What could be improved: De enige twee minpuntjes waren het uitzicht op verouderde gebouwen en het ontbreken van een strijkplank. Maar dat deed niets af aan het plezier van mijn verblijf.

  Die Wohnung sieht genau so wie auf den Bildern aus. Sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Lage hat mir sehr gut gefallen, weil von Medina und Hektik etwas entfernt ist, trotz fast überall zu erreichen ist.

  L’appartement est incroyable. L’hygiène est vraiment au rendez vous. Il ne manque vraiment aucun équipement (fer à repasser, séche cheveux, cafetière, machine à laver …) L’emplacement est juste idéal ! la résidence est sécurité de nuit comme de jour. Vraiment n’hésitez pas. Propre – luxueux – et vraiment bien positionner. Hassan est très très agréable. Un amour. Tout était vraiment parfait.
